LONDON (Reuters) - Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis is considering making a comeback at the age of 41, according to a newspaper report.

"Lennox has been discussing the prospect of a one-off, world title rematch with Vitali Klitschko," American promoter Bob Arum told the Daily Mail on Saturday.

"I am told Lennox is back in the gym. This is an enormous fight in the making."

Lewis retired three years ago. His last fight was a win over Klitschko in June 2003 when the Ukrainian was stopped after six rounds because of severe cuts.

The Briton became only the third man after Americans Gene Tunney and Rocky Marciano to retire while still world champion.

Klitschko announced last month that he was planning his own comeback.

"I am returning to get my WBC championship back," said the Ukrainian in a statement.

"In November 2005, due to a serious knee injury, I retired without having lost the WBC belt in the ring."

Klitschko's brother Vladimir is scheduled to defend his IBF and IBO heavyweight titles against American Ray Austin in Germany on March 10.

I would like to have seen this rematch in a timely matter. The fight three years ago was classic for the few rounds that it lasted til the fight got stopped due to the awful cut above Klitchko's eye from the laces of the Lewis glove. Now they have added three years of rust. Lennox has anyway. Still.... should be better than most heavyweight fights. Which isn't saying much.

Yup. Lennox is my favourite heavy of all-time, but I'm not so sure about this shit.

I think he'd be able to beat all of the current heavyweight title holders.

It sure took long enough. Boxers saying they're retiring is like me saying i'm not gonna drink anymore. I don't see Lennox getting a ton of money to fight Klitchko. Nobody gives a shit about the heavyweight division anymore and the PPV buys wouldn't be that great. Plus there are 2 better fights in the upcoming months anyway. Maywether VS De La Hoya is gonna be huge(I'm gonna put every penny i have on Maywether). Plus Hopkins Vs Wright is a pretty good matchup(although i think it will be boring as hell).

putting every penny you have on Maywether won't be a very big payoff. I assume he is a HUGE favorite?

just over 2:1 odds which is a total steal. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down right before the bell rings too.

BTW, i just read that Lewis denies coming out of retirement

Lennox Lewis is a twat, I wouldn't say it to his face mind, but he defenitely falls within the 'twatness' catagory. Yes, Lennox, you're so British you fought for Canada in the Olympics.

His family moved to Canada when he was a kid, he spent his adolescence there, and thus, represented Canada. When he declared himself a professional, he voluntarily moved back to England, as he considered it his home, and gained success there.

I don't really see what your issue is, but I can only assume it's because he supports the Irons and not your Spurs. ;)
