Last night I watched the BBC2 2 hour distillation of the Reading/Leeds festivals.

The Fratellis were the best thing on it. Not great but good enough. It did all make me wish I was a teenager again and could get excited about contemporary bands.
The Dirty Pretty Things (I think that's the name) were pretty good too. Always nice to see people who understand that acting/looking like rock stars on stage is a good thing.

I did wonder if any of these current bands have written more than one good song. Even with my dulled level of consciousness I am dimly aware of I Predict A Riot, She Moves In Her Own Way, Monster, Over And Over, etc.

Awful band. The UK equivalent of Scissor Sisters in terms of cack being overplayed on the radio. At the moment this is as bad as that new Scissor Sisters single AND that Valerie song by the Zutons. Every time I hear them I want to smash things over my head. They really are awful, musically single toned and unmelodic. Really can't stand it.

The bass player's tone is badass on the single. It sounds like the Fall or something. That's all I really remember.

These British bands always make one really catchy song that I listen to for a week and then never play again.
