*Israel's Son*
Hate is what I feel for you
And I want you to know that I want you dead
You're late for the execution
If you're not here soon, I'll kill your friend instead
All the pain I feel
Couldn't start to heal
Although I would like it too
I hate you and your apathy
You can leave, you can leave, I don't want you here
I'm playing this pantomime
But I don't see you showing any signs of fear
All the pain I feel
Couldn't start to heal
Although I would like it too
This time I'm for real
My pain can not heal
You will be dead when I'm through
Hate is what I feel for you
And I want you to know that I want you dead
You're late for the execution
If you're not here soon, I'll kill your friend instead
All the pain I feel
Couldn't start to heal
Although I would like it too
This time I'm for real
My pain can not heal
You will be dead when I'm through
Ohhh, ohhhhhhhh
Pain and execution
Put your hands in the air
Put your hands in the air
The air, yeahhhhhhhhh
AAAAAHHHHHH
I am, I am Israel's son
Israel's son I am
Put your hands in the air
Put your hands in the air
I am, I am Israel's son
Israel's son I am
Put your hands in the air
Put your hands in the air
AAAAHHHHHH, yeahhhhhhh
The first time I heard this song, I must have re-played it atleast 10 times before i went on to the next song. And for good reason. Both the lyrics and music are what 90's grunge- alternative music is all about. It's been said that this song was about the war in the middle east, and unless you really look into it, you hear the song and wonder who pissed off Daniel John.
"Hate is what I feel for you
And I want you to know that I want you dead"
I heard those words for the opening line and was just blown away. I was thinking about all the times i'd been let down in life by other people. At the time of being dissapointed i never thought of killing somebody, but i was pissed off enough to the point where i needed to put this song on.
"I hate you and your apathy
You can leave, you can leave, I don't want you here"
After numerous girls have just treated me like shit i always just thought back to this line in the song. For me, it was always, -you like me or you don't-. -Don;t just treat me like shit, for no reason-.
And that is the main reason why i love this song. For 3 guys at the age of 15. 15! it blew me away when i heard that.
Overall one of my favorite songs ever. Just pure, raw emotion.

FUCKYEAH!!!
This song is REALLY what turned me on to Silverchair.
Tomorrow was an ok single, but this really has a catchy feel to it. It was a heavy-grunge sound unlike anything I've heard before. I'll never forget that heavy guitar sound. I heard live versions which don't do justice to the frogstomp version. A rockin track guarunteed to get anyone pumped up.

i haven't listened to silverchair in approx 10 years. i don't even think they've made it into my itunes yet.
i do remember enjoying this song. maybe i'll try and give it a shot this week. of course, i'm fairly obsessed with EITS right now.

i thought he was singing 'i am innocent, innocent i am' for ages even thought i knew what the title of this song was.
i've been over this band for a long time, but back in the day i did love them. this song is still a guilty pleasure from time to time. let's face it, it's pretty impressive for how incredibly young they were, and hats off to them for maturing their sound, even if i got turned off by it.

I don't know....this song seemed to embody everything that ruined grunge. Noise and faux pain with no real soul or feeling behind it.

i loathe Silverchair.
You can look back on their career, and notice that with each album, they sucked on the dick of the current trend of music at the time. That's not versatility, it's just selling out.

I need to sell my Silverchair albums, thanks for the reminder.
heh
i was meaning to do that for ages, but never got around to it, and much to my surprise, i did end up listening to them again once of twice and was glad i hadn't. it's nostalgia.
