It's not just my ears, these are low-quality recordings, right?

i listened to these albums precisely once, and i don't envision any situation in which i will listen to them again.

I don't know much about the recordings other than they sound shitty. It's ashame that the songs are just covered in a hissy muddiness that go with second rate bootlegs.

Man, that's unfortunate.

I've got The Quine Tapes, and they sound like garbage. Fortunately the performances are so great it's enough to get by that. I'd reccomend them to a serious VU fan.

I'm no audiophile, but this hissing can be pretty irritating.

Don't know what you're complaining about. Best version of "What Goes On". Fucking rocks. Also, best verison of "Pale Blue Eyes". The sound quality just makes it sound very raw and i like it.

Who needs the definitive versions of "New Age", "Ocean" and "What Goes On" when you can listen to fifty Johnny Cash albums?

Mwobs, are you listening with headphones? I'm just wondering because while there most certainly is a hiss to those recordings, I don't find it nearly as irritating as you do. It kind of adds to the feel of the show, at least for me.

The version of Sweet Jane found on this set is amazing.
