I take it you mean an Mpeg video clip which you want to rip the audio from and turn into an audio file?

I believe (and I may be wrong) that TmpegEnc can demux VOB files, thus it should be able to handle an mpeg, but I don't know.

Give me a bit more info about what it is you're trying to do.

how do i go about doing that (what does "TmpegEnc can demux VOB files" mean?)

I don't use TmpegEnc very much (it is a free program for converting video files) but it has a "Demux" function (under the file>Mpeg tools menu).

A VOB file is what is found on a DVD. VOB stands for Video OBject. A VOB file contains a Mpeg video, one or more audio tracks (such as surround sound and stereo), and subtitles.

To Demux a VOB file means to split all these different pieces (video, audio, subtitles) into seperate files.

Now, your Mpeg file contains video and audio data; I was thinking perhaps you could Demux the file and split the video and audio into two seperate files. After that, you could convert the audio file to MP3 using any audio converter (iTunes, Musicmatch, any standalone program).

I don't know if this would work, but it's worth a try. I've never done something like what you are trying to do before. I'm sure someone here can be of more help than me.
