In My Tree
Insignificance
Dead Man
Rival
Parting Ways
Mankind
Its OK

I'm just getting the last touches on a lot of songs like I Got ID, Grievance, Green Disease, Red Mosquito, and some more.

The main reason I started this thread was because in the old RM, someone made this kinda thread. He said he was working on Masters Of War from the Letterman show and I was hoping he'd read this so I could work with him. But if anyone else wants to help me put together the song, I'd love to hear.

every single one of their songs... not bragging but very literally. i have studied mike and stone since i was 10 years old, i know every solo, every riff, and every little fill. i am a music major at UAB and already have obtained my masters in guitar performance.... i have mike and stone to thank for that! i study classical music, but if it weren't for pearl jam... i would never have picked up a guitar in the first place when i was a kid. i heard alive on the radio in 1991, i was 10 years old... i heard the solo and was like... "i wanna do that!". my dad bought me my first guitar the very next day...

I have a question for you guys, i play a little bit, but can't play any full songs. When you were learning how to play, did you learn full songs, chords, did you take lessons.

well... i started at 10 years old with a little "kay" accoustic. never took lessons as a child. one of my child hood friends dad was a guitarist and he showed me the basic A, B, C, D, E, F, and G chords. i just kind of took it from there. i got the 10 tab book when it came out but God knows i couldn't play that stuff when i first started. so when i was around 12 i guess i was playing rhythm's fairly smooth, good chordal transitions. and i picked up the 10 tab book again around 14 and made it my mission in life to learn every single lick on that album. so i learned the alive solo note for note. and then moved onto the harder solo's such as why go. by the time i was 16 i could play every thing on their perfectly including the solo's. later on when you are starting to learn leads... i suggest you just pick a song such as alive that has a long repeating solo section and just jam with it. figure out what notes work and what notes don't work in the key. alive's chorus/solo section is in Emajor, the progression is E-G-D-A. these days if you tell me Emajor i think... "oh ok... Emajor has 4 sharps in the key, those being F#, C#, G#, & D#... and the Emajor scale is E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#, E... so those are my notes to use if i am playing alive."... but that comes with much time and practice. but i suggest you start out by learning simple 4 chord songs and just strumming away... this will develope your rhythm, hand dexterity, hand independance, finger independance, etc... etc... good pearl jam songs to start out with would be songs such as stone's part of yellow ledbetter, just a repeated E, B, A, E progression until the very end where it is slightly changed. another one would be release... easy song that will start you with some easy picking in the key of D, and the chorus progression is just D, B, C, and also the song is in 3/4 which will teach you more of a "swing" rhythm. sorry i gave such a long answer... this is just what i do with my life and how i make a living, and i love to talk about it. i never took formal lessons until i got into college. i am a music major so i am required to. my lessons aren't exactly the normal guitar style though. we study purely classical music at UAB, and i reached masters level(495), and even still continue to take lessons now. if you need any help please feel free to pm or email me!
