Right here's my predictions....as always they could be well off the mark, but I guess i'd get decent odds for them.
Top wicket-taker- Nathan Bracken
Top run-scorer- Chris Gayle
Tournament winner- Sri Lanka
Tournament flop- West Indies
I really think only Australia, Sri Lanka, NZ and South Africa are capable of winning it. In fact, that's my final four.
But damn, I can't wait. We're gonna pepper those small West Indian boundaries, killing England in the 1st game and then going from strength to strength. Think we'll crash in the semis to any of those other three mentioned though.
No upsets ala West Indies vs Kenya/Pakistan vs Bangladesh etc this time.

Nathan Bracken is a possible most-wicket-taker and I think Sri Lanka are a good bet to win the thing.
I need to start adjusting my sleeping patterns in preparation for this thing. Time differential with WA and the Windies is an absolute bastard.
Watching England 99 I don't think I slept for two weeks! The cricket was well worth it, though!

Oram needs to have a chat with Ronnie Lott of the 49ers.
Or Joe Tauaki (sp?) from the Brumbies. Got his amputated so he could make the Aussie rugby side. Fuckin insane man, just for a sports tournament. I know Jake's mrs, and I bet she is none too pleased. It's his ring finger!!

Deano, Have I blown $15 ?
Bangladesh shocks Black Caps
From correspondents in Bridgetown, Barbados
March 07, 2007 PACE bowler Mashrafe Mortaza was the hero with bat and ball as Bangladesh pulled off a major shock today (AEDT), defeating New Zealand by two wickets in a World Cup warm-up.
After taking 4-44 to limit the Black Caps to 224 all out, he smashed two successive sixes off the hapless James Franklin to secure victory in the 49th over of an enthralling contest.
New Zealand go into the World Cup as a dark horse for the title, having swept world champion Australia 3-0 in a recent home series, but it never managed to get to grips with either the Mortaza's clever pace or the left-arm spin of Abdur Razzak.
Off spinner Daniel Vettori took three wickets for the Kiwis as he tried to put a brake on the scoring, but Mortaza's big-hitting was to have the final say as Bangladesh celebrated its first win over the Black Caps.
Earlier, all rounder Jacob Oram, who has a broken ring finger on his left hand, batted through the pain barrier to rescue the Black Caps.
Oram top-scored with 88 off 107 balls as New Zealand was dismissed for 224. Fast-medium Mortaza, who learned his trade under the watchful gaze of West Indies legend Andy Roberts, took 4-44 while Razzak's flighted, left-arm spin earned him figures of 4-26.
New Zealand will play another warm-up here with Sri Lanka here on Friday before switching to St Lucia for its first-round Group C matches with England, Kenya and Canada.
Bangladesh, which faces Scotland in another warm-up here tomorrow, is in Group B with India, Sri Lanka and Bermuda in Trinidad.
Set 227 for victory, the rank outsiders made the runs after tailender Mashrafe Mortaza blasted two successive sixes off James Franklin in the penultimate over.
Earlier, New Zealand all rounder Jacob Oram ignored a broken finger, which he had "considered amputating", to score 88.
The hefty 28 year old came in to bat with the Black Caps in serious trouble at 6-75, but he and Brendon McCullum blasted a seventh-wicket 105-run partnership to pave the way for a respectable total of 226 off 49.2 overs.
Oram arrived in the Caribbean last week nursing a badly broken finger on his left hand, and was intending to play with a fibreglass sheath to protect it from further damage.
He said he may need pain-killing injections to help him play, and even suggested he would have it surgically removed if it meant he could take part in the World Cup.
"If it means cutting the finger off, if that's the worse-case scenario, if that's the last resort, I'll do that. There's no way I'm missing this," he said recently.
He and McCullum, who scored 46, barely gave a chance before the latter was run out by a direct hit from the outfield by Mashrafe Mortaza.
Oram eventually holed out to Syed Rasel at long-on. He hit five fours and a massive straight six in his 107-ball stay.
Mortaza was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers with 4-44 off 9.2 overs.

It's a warmup game, all you're trying to do is get people out on the park in new conditions and start things off. Can't say i'm over the moon we lost to Bangladesh, but i'm not too worried.
That guy Mortaza is a class act.

I am seriously hanging for this.
Too much beer, too much bourbon, too much grease, too little sleep. Bring it on.
