Anyone else notice them? At about the same point in his career, Favre COULD NOT get the Pack past the Cowboys in the division round, year in and year out. It was during the era the Cowboys were on their way to winning 3 in 4 years, just like the Pats are attempting to accomplish this season.
Its EERIE.

You think too much
you're right, no way any team will ever win 3 in 4 years again.
Personally I'd compare him more with Marino than Favre. You've certainly pointed out some good points, but Favre was able to win the "Big Game" unlike Manning's been unable to do. Stats wise he's the best Q in the game at the moment, but much like Marino, this means nothing when it comes to performing in the Playoffs. Did anyone happen to catch Boomer Esiason(sp.) call Peyton out on this right in front of Dan, I don't think Dan took it to well.

Well, not since the salary cap has been put in place. Man, those old teams were damn lucky the owners decided to outspend every other team in the league huh? No WAY Dallas would have won 3 times in 4 years without outspending everyone else. Too bad for them now that they can't buy a Superbowl huh?
Here's another parallel...they are both great QBs.
I agree, I'm just saying its a very similiar situation, and eventually, Favre DID get to the superbowl,
ironically enough,
defeating the Patriots.

that is pretty weird. i guess in terms of career they are similar, but i dont think they are too similar the way they play qb. favre is a little bit more mobil than manning and favre takes alot more chances than manning, which in turn leads to favre having alot more ints than manning. but the fact is they are both great qbs

what did you have for lunch, sour grapes?
No team had a salary cap in the history of the league until a few years ago, still, no one won 3 in 4 years.
Except the cowboys.

I meant parallels career path wise, not so much stats/style wise. The colts need to sign the best defensive free agent on the market this season, and they will win the superbowl. So sayeth the prophecy.

the colts just need to finish against the pats in the regular season and get the playoff game in the dome, then i think they go to the superbowl.

she's a little bitter. I believe it was the first season after the salary cap was instituted that her beloved patriots went to the superbowl, and were thumped mercilessly by the Pack, she blames that drumming on residual salary cap issues.

You are so cute!! I'm saying that Dallas spent more than any other team, so of course they won. Think Yankees, and more recently, Red Sox.

I really not even sure that's true. I don't think the cowboy's payroll was significantly higher than other top tier (see:not New England) franchises during that era. A smart owner with a great coach and players usually wins, except in the Patriots case, their success can be attributed to luck.
What won the cowboy's super bowls, was the Minnesota Vikings. Anyone remember the Hershel Walker trade? That jumpstarted the dynasty.

I hate the Cowboys but you're wrong. The Cowboys won b/c they took advantage of all the draft picks they received from MN in the Walker trade. If they didn't use those picks as well as they did they wouldn't have won all those Superbowl's.

Yes. Did you miss where I posted that I was only giving js a hard time and didn't believe this, or did you think that was a lie?
