Hey folks!

I finally got my new computer, so I started capturing/ripping/editing some of the footage for the "PJ Through The Years" DVD today!

(*For those of you unaware, I'm embarking on a huge mission to mix the best songs of over 50 PJ VCDs and DVDs into a 3-disc DVD set of PJ live clips, interviews and photo montages. It will document their entire history, with footage and excerpts from every tour since their inception.)

The ideas that you guys have given me are great, and I have used a lot of them so far. I wanted to give you a tracklisting and more detailed info of what the DVD will consist of, but I think it will be better as a surprise.

It will probably take me a good month or so to get all the footage together the way I want it. When it's finished I will send free copies to some members of the board, as well as do B+Ps for it. It will be available in VCD and DVD formats.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO REPLY/EMAIL ME WITH MORE IDEAS! I want this to be as extensive as possible, so I can include a lot of footage.

Thanks guys! jeremy_spoke_in@hotmail.com

Judd

Do you have another thread on here about this? Please give link if you do. The more PJ compilations the better of course but eric102 is doing something like this at the moment that we are all helping him out with.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do this because someone else is but if they are going to be the same then you might not want to put in all this work unless you just like doing it then by all means go ahead. As I said before, the more video compilations the better.

I will send you some money? At least for postage, if I get a copy of this? This excites me! Thank you so much everyone for your wonderful dedication to this project...

Hey man, when your first thread here was posted a few weeks ago I understood it as being more of a collection of famous moments, rare interviews, etc. with a few songs in the mix as well. Your idea (along with Mementos and the GH comp) sparked my idea to get the definitive video version of each song put together on DVD album by album. I apologize if I stole your idea, as you did have it first, but I thought you were doing something a bit different.

I suggest you bump the old thread over in PJ Live in order to get some more ideas. As for a suggestion, I suggest that you do not use any VCD sources and stick with DVD releases only (and maybe VHS if you can transfer unreleased footage).

Best of Luck,
Eric

I echo this statment. And really, it is very kind of you all to make the effort. I realize the time and energy it's going to take. Please include me on the "would love a copy, list." :D :D :D

I'd be interested in doing B+P. Torrent doesn't work on my school server and i have dial up anyway.

Thank you so much to pearl_jam_r_good. It must have been a lot of work. I don't think i have any suggestions, but if I can help at all please just say the word.

thanks

I think he is just getting started putting the thing together. That's why he is asking for suggestions. It is a bit soon to be asking for B&Ps and torrents when the thing is just in its infancy.

I agree, and I'm sure other will agree also. Plus, you should try to get the best sources for everything before creating a DVD.

some of the clips i have can only be sourced from VCD. and anyways, all of the pj videos pre-2002 on "DVD" have just been copied from the VCD anyways. all my VCDs are from the old TVM trade site, and there isn't/wasn't a better place anywhere to get good quality videos.

my aim is to not put TB2K, SVT stuff together. i want the rare shit that people wanna see that they may not have seen before. along with montages, and dedications to each band member.

hope people still wanna see what im doing, otherwise i wont bother...

all dvds listed on http://www.our-modern-needs.com pre-2002 or after 2002 are NOT copied from VCD.
Some of them may have used to same original source tapes, but all were reencoded from those tapes and not from the VCD versions resulting in much less quality loss from the original sources.

Cheers and good luck on your endeavour

L.

I would love to get my hands on this. You got to give me a shout out when you're done. I might also have some videos worth your while. Just give me a PM.

Actually this is not true. People here like Leehro worked very hard to find the original source tapes and then convert those to dvd. I have many pre 02 dvd's that are not vcd sourced, actually I don't have any vcd sourced dvd's. Ask around in the trading forum, we would be glad to provide you with the quality videos you need.

not to sound like an ass, but what the pearl jam community really needs is more people filming the shows, and not more compilations of whats already been done.

Hmm... seing as there is no tour right now that's not really possible.

It's nice to see people showing interest and working on these DVDs; they are probably the same people who will be taping the next time a tour comes around.

i know there is no tour right now. but when the next tour happens im sure its gonna be the same people filming the shows, which are not the people making these compilations. all im saying is if more people stepped up and filmed we could have vids from every show of the tour.

ok cool, it looks like there is still interest in the dvd. i will use some DVD but mainly the TVM VCDs. many of them are just so friggin awesome, and the quality isnt too bad at all. but i will try to get the best sources available to me.

a quick question - should i make the main setlist in chronological order, as in have it begin in 1990 and end in 2004? or should i just mix it up and try make the best setlist possible and jump from year to year? i'm still undecided... leaning towards the latter.

thanks for your help
