As I posted in the Across the Atlantic thread, I thought it was totally awesome. I actually had a bet on 6-0. Too bad I lost it. And after our retarded goalkeeper had said the Belgian wanna-be football players should just kick Ronaldo into hospital after 2 minutes, I was so hoping for him to score at least once. I'm happy with the 4-0 and I couldn't care less if the Belgian team fails to qualify, which I hope they will. They are overpaid suckers who can't play decent football. Our competition is totally worth nothing at all. And I fucking hate our national coach. He was sacked 2 years ago at a club that is now leading our league and is playing the best football with a lot of young, Belgian players, but he's still refusing to call one of them up for the national team. Oh no, why not go for guys that have been spending months on the bench at some kind of "top" team... I fucking hate Belgian football and I wish I wouldn't be associated with it.

the Republic of Ireland has turned into the English team. Overpaid, passionless and no commitment. Throw in a conservative (clueless) manager...
International football appears to mean SFA to the Irish team. Time was when the money they got was significant in comparison to their weekly wage now most footballers would piss it away in a nightclub in half an hour.

I think the frustrating thing for any England fan is that the team is not the sum of its parts or anywhere near it and hasn't been for many years. Any team with Terry, Gerrard and Rooney in it should be world beaters but yet England continually struggle, play dull football and fail to do well. It breaks a lot of Irish hearts I can tell ya.

I tell you what, McClaren has as much control over that side as my grandad does over his bowel movements.

Anyone catch Scotland Vs Georgia at the weekend? What we lack in ability and skill, we make up for in effort and determination. Can't help but think if England applied themselves with the passion and committment of the Scottish lads that they might actually do quite well

The England players can play football, they prove that at Man United or Chelski or I don'tk now where they play. The Belgium players really can't.

Ireland could learn a lesson too. As Greece showed in the last Euro championships
effort, commitment, organisation, teamwork and doing the basics well will get most teams a long way.

As for the Greece thing, you would need a certain dose of luck as well. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of it.

Ahem. How many Monaghan, Cavan and Donegal men were on the NI team?

Remember, our Ulster is bigger than your Ulster. :P

it seems now everytime internationals come around i just want it over to get back to the prem again. theres the obvious excitement of big summer tournements but watching england in friendlies or qualifying is boring at best! i dont think ive ever spoken to my brother as much as saturday during the game.

I feel the same way, normally I'll always watch the qualifying games and give the friendlies a miss (unless it's against a decent team like the one against Argies) as we all know the script with the friendlies, the top players will pull out due to "injury" and then we'll see a completely different side in the second half.
