not sure how many wrestling fans browse these threads, but it is (supposedly) the biggest wrestling event of the year. i am a former big-time fan but now i usually just end up watching wrestling around wrestlemania time. i feel like the hype for this year's show isn't what it has been in the past. perhaps its because i really don't care about the mcmahon/trump feud which is supposed to be the big deal of the show this year.
looking forward to the michals/cena match though. it'd be nice to see shawn win one last big match at wrestlemania seeing as his body has a lotta mileage and i dunno how much more his back and knees can take.

yeah, the austin addition is about the only good part of that match. i also enjoyed the rock's cameo on RAW a few weeks ago. they both still cut a great promo...too bad no one in the wwe has any mic skills anymore (especially with triple h injured and michals' mic skills have gone way down now that he got all religious).
so fill me in..whats austins role?? and trumps wrestlin?? will the rock be a part of it, or was he just shittin around on raw promotin somethin?? i may get this for shits n giggles who knows

Austin is the guest ref, Trump will be in Bobby Lashley's corner, The Rock will most likely not be a part of it, if Lashley wins, McMahon gets his head shaved, if Lashley loses, Trump gets his head shaved, I have no interest in this match.
And you're right, the hype has been lacking this year. I'm still watching, though.
With any luck, you'll see me wrestling at WM in 5 years or so.

I am really looking forward to the Michaels/Cena match. I am sure HBK will carry Cena to a 4 star match. Since HBK is most likely taking time off after Mania and WWE's insistence on attempting to make Cena a Hoganesque figure, I am sure Big John will walk out with the gold around his waist.
Not much interest in anything else other than the Money In The Bank ladder match and I am sure what will be classic facial expressions on McMahon as he gets his head shaved bald.
I will have to order the replay being that my Mets open Sunday night.

well ashley is hot in a pornstar kinda way so that match will be good since it has now become, a lumberjill's match.
but yeah the great khaili and Lame just blow.

Ashley & Melina both suck and are terribly inexperienced. I expect one of these ladies to seriously get injured one of these days. They continue to do high spots while not having the training to execute them.
Mickie James & Victoria are the best skilled of all the ladies but I guess do not possess the necessary eye candy factor to be the Women's Title match at Wrestlemania. Personally, I'd take Mickie over any of the ladies on the current roster.

she is just perfect.
I don;t find melina at all attractive, besides her body, but other than that, her face and hair extensions are just stupid.
But i agree, one of these one of the girls will ned up in a wheelchair, because they try high risk moves and they can't do it. i'm surprised it has not happened yet

Melina doesn't do anything for me either, plus that scream of hers is like nails on a chalkboard. I do think Johnny Nitro has lots of potential. He could be a future HBK type showstopper.
I just got an email from WWE inviting me to the press conference tomorrow on the 27th floor of Trump Plaza.

i hope hbk and taker kick ass. cena and batista can't wrestle for shit. although i know michals is due for time off cause i guess his back is killing him but he hasn't been able to take it because triple h got injured.
kane is a really good wrestler but even he won't be able to carry khali to a good match.
the addition of trump isn't enough to offset the lack of star power at this year's event. no rock, no hogan, no triple h, no big show (retired), no kurt angle (jumped ship to TNA), no flair (unless they add him in a crap match at the last second), no foley (although i'm sure he'll be there talking about his book). not that it needs the old farts to make it great (this isn't wcw), but appearances by those guys are what makes wrestlemania special.
all that being said, i still can't wait to watch it. its always a great event.

i agree with basically everything you said except for Flair. If I need to watch another Flair match where he chops someone 57 times while again botching the flip into the corner I am going to be sick for 3 weeks.
I am not a big fan of Cena but have to admit he has come a long ways on promos and in ring. Batista is horrible at both, a lost cause who got the title put on him simply cause Vince gets hot looking at Batista's roided body.

and because triple h "discovered him." batista is the reincarntation of the ultimate warrior (and it doesn't help that he also now does the warrior rope shake).
i know i sound like a mark for the old timers, but these youg guys don't do a whole lot for me and the ones that do (edge, benoit, mysterio, mr. kennedy) aren't in the main event. plus i also look at wrestlemania as a nostalgic event and i like seeing some of those guys make an appearance even if they're not in a match.
well i like Cena because he is good when he talks, half the show for me is laughing at what these guys say. Edge on the other hand is great at both talking and wrestling. Orton is good. Micheals is good. Flair is good but that slur is bad. Mr. Kennedy is really good.
and i guess that is why Stone Cold is stealing the show because he has to be one of the best behind the mic. \
but listening to guys like Batista, The Hardy Boyz, The Masterpiece, and Lashley. It's horrible.
But all in all i think it will be a decent Show.

michals is good on the mic, but he has downgraded a lot. his promo last night before the main event on RAW was the best i've seen from him in a long time. if you go back and look at the promos he used to cut 10 years ago when DX first formed you'll be blown away. back in his "i'm the showstopper, the icon, the main event" days. they still play clips from those speeches when they do montages before his big ppv matches.

it'd been nice to see shawn quit wrestling after he dropped the belt at wrestlemania 14 to austin.
i personally do not know why people still cheer him.
oooh, a flying elbow from the top rope. people see that shit fifty thousand times and they still think it's daring and innovative.
hopefully they give him the belt and he agrees to leave.

I think people still cheer Shawn cause they realilze he is still capable of carrying lesser opponents to a quality match. The same cannot be said for people like Flair who are pushing 60 years of age and have no business being in a ring and only are capable of doing a chop that still gets the "WOOOOO" reaction from the crowd.
One thing I could never understand about Flair, yes he was the greatest in the 80's but from 95 on, his matches had no originality and were the same thing time after time while HBK was reinvented the high flying/high impact style that most fans came to love.
I've been a fan of wrestling since 1983 when I went to MSG to see Backlund with my 2 older brothers. Flair/Steamboat I was the best match I ever saw but HBK over a longer period of time has put on consistently better matches than Flair ever could hope to........... and Hogan doesnt even enter the discussion. He was simply a box office draw with limited to no in ring talent.

michals is still capable of having an outstanding match. he doesn't get as crazy as he used to but for the past 3 wrestlemanias in a row he's stolen the show: against vince (surprisingly, but even if you hate the elbow drop watching him do it off the ladder through the table was unbelievable), against angle and in the triple threat match against benoit and triple h (even though benoit was way over at the time and michals didn't even need to be in that match).
i agree with the points about flair and hogan 100%.
