I'd be elated.

Nothing like getting in there right away, warm, no, HOT from the previous album and tour, using the positive energy as momentum to surge forward, like they've done for every album except Riot Act and Avocado...

I'm not hoping for a new release between summer - winter 2008, but if we got one in winter 2009, that would be boss-- as long as its a proper follow-up, worthy of the album which preceded it and with the typical pushing of the fold, in typical PJ fashion

Don't toy with my emotions, now.

But I'd like a tasty, full-blown 2006 tour DVD - 2 or 3 discs, ridiculous packaging, the whole bit - before another album.

It's amazing how PJ reads our minds for what we want from them. We asked for harder music, and they gladly gave that to us. Rare songs? They dropped the leash. nowing them, they're probably making up for lost time. They spent half of 2004 and 2005 just relaxing, which is fine. A new record is most likely coming our way. :)

that region didn't show up in the way the band wanted, the band's not going to return for a tour, it's happened before and it'll happen again

I think that's the shittiest thing about Pearl Jam. It's ok to mix a little politics in your music, but when you start preaching it, that's when you cross the line.
They're eliminating their fanbase because of their political beliefs? I thought they were a musical group.

i dont think it has to do w/ politics as much as ticket sales.

where is this info coming from (that theyre in the studio)?

if youre just assuming, i'd assume that theyre taking a break, spending time with families/side projects, and wont see each other til tour rehearsals.

Why can' they tour and record a new album for '08 at the same time? Didn't they do that with Vitalogy? I liked that album, even though it almost broke up the band, but I think they are beyond break up by now. They are together until at least Rock n Roll hof induction time 8)

So why did they return to Japan in '03? Those '95 shows didn't sell shit.
Their shows aren't gonna get any bigger without touring.

But really, does EVERY show have to completely sell out? Southern shows were packed very well in '00 and '03.

didnt they go to japan in 1995 b/c it was a contract obligation? maybe thats why they went back.

i dunno how packed the south shows have been in the past, but i remember stone not being happy with the numbers.

and how do we know they are recording? isnt malfunkshun recording? maybe they are using stones studio

Ya-well, they also road tested the new material when recording vitalogy and think they said that road testing is pretty much done.

If they are in the studio, which I kind of doubt, I hope they tour to take a break, similar to the '05 tour. They could hit up the south and midwest and then finish the album, releasing it sometime next winter or spring.

if they said "screw the studio, we're just gonna tour every year and play songs live as we come up with them. no more albums," i really wouldnt be too upset. and this is coming from someone who LOVES the last album. but nothing can stand up against live PJ.

it is coming from me - i was at a snow patrol show in nyc 2 days ago. i was wearing my 10c tshirt and chatted with this guy in the beer line. he was from j-records, he said he was one of the people handing out tix at tower records for irving plaza.

i asked him about the tour and the south and he said that no plans like that from what he knows, but that they're in the studio.

just relaying, could be bullshit, but he sounded legit.

cool, i hadnt heard anything, so just wanted to see what i was missing. i would still guess that the goal of any studio work right now is rehearsals, and maybe hashing out any songs ideas that are lingering, but not a new album.
