Hey Jammers!
The rumors are true! Pearl Jam will headline this year's Lollapalooza in Chicago on Sunday, August 5th.
This is the band's only scheduled U.S. date for 2007.
Low-priced Earlybird 3-day passes go on sale tomorrow morning at 7:00am CDT. Get 'em while the price is right - the cost for the weekend pass will increase on April 12 when the complete festival lineup is announced or when this initial allotment runs out.

It'll be easier just to quote myself from the PJ Live Lolla thread than write it again...

I'm glad I don't live in the south. Are any of you southerners going to follow through with your "if they don't play the south..." threats?
I wouldn't lose all hope just yet.
If you recall, when they announced the Euro tour, they stated they were the band's only scheduled dates for 2007.
It's just their way of maximising ticket sales for each show, eg: if you know Pearl Jam are playing near you soon, why would you trek to Europe or Lolla to see them?
I don't think it's over til the fat lady is "scheduled" to sing.

I'll just quote myself from the Lolla thread, as well:

I will be horribly, horribly disappointed if they don't do any more North American dates. I'm not about to travel just for a festival (of course, the lineup may warrant that, I'll have to wait until the 12th).
That said, I'd be very surprised if there aren't other dates. I can't see them only playing one US/NA date.

I find it very frustrating the people in charge of PJ have not one clue. They have been announcing tours for over a year now and not one person in the PJ camp thinks it is appropriate to let the fans in the South know anything. Piss-poor if you ask me.

The fact that I can't travel to Chicago during that time due to other factors makes not going a lot easier. Last tour I waited, hoping they'd come to the south. This time I just can't go so this decision or lack of is much more bearable.

Fans in the South know as much as everyone else.

So far they are the only ones being affected. They have toured Europe twice, South America, Canada twice, and all over the US but the south. I agree with your statement to a point. Yes no one knows anything thanks to their management. But, they could have told fans in the South last year we have no intention of touring that area and we could have traveled north.

Why is it so hard to announce a tour or any show date for that matter well enough ahead? Ok granted this show is not till August, but i just know they will announce something else and tell ya tickets went on sale 3 days ago. Sorry for your luck....

Lollapalooza is a lot of money, but if this is their only date, I might consider going. When they toured Canada, I figured, well they'll come back to Buffalo, right? Then when they announced they were playing in Toronto... again... I thought, well their next leg they'll be sure to come here. For this reason, I've only seen them once in '03 and it's fucking killing me.
Some of the bands they included last year were pretty good. If Les Claypool was to play then I'm sure I could get my boyfriend to want to go.
