if you like boring rock you'll like the black keys.

thanks for reminding me of some albums I've meant to put on my iPod, though. Namely, Primal Scream and the Cocteau Twins.

(as for my actual recommendations, Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Laughing Stock, and Bee THousand

I do like a lot of broing rock, actually. Well, in the vein of Strokes, Kings of Leon and White Stripes and all that stuff.

I have two Black Keys albums that I like.

Wow, probably their three best releases.

Contrary to what c_b says (did you listen to Plaskett after, c_b?) DFN is an incredible album. An Inch An Hour, Impossibilium, Fire In The Hole, Emergency and Inevitability of Death probably being the stand-out tracks.

I've only heard Zen Arcade by HD, and a handful of GBV records, but these are all terrific. Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes are both masterpieces, I'd say check those out first.

Yea, I have both of them. They are very good. I downloaded like 5 or 6 other albums.

Zen Arcade is the only Husker Du I've heard so far too and it is fucking awesome.

I would reccomend XTRMNTR then. One of the most ass-kicking albums ever created.

I like the Primal Scream ones (Vanish Point is great too), Stereolab (one of the best records of the 90's IMO), Talk Talk, The Slits (Typical Girls is a fantastic song), Dead Boys and Wire (Pink Flag is a classic).

The rest are worth a listen. I haven't heard the .. 'Hip records or Sugar (but they have a good reputation.

You know what I'm going to say. Listen to Spirit of Eden when you get a chance.
