This is a thread that I meant to make last summer, but I totally forgot about it until just recently, when I just got brought on as a full-time official employee at the company I work at.
I had a nice road trip with one of my relatives that lives in Maine, and he works for a mutual funds company called Calvert. It's a very unique business model in that it specializes in what is calls "Socially Responsible Investing", offering stocks and bonds that meet some non-traditional criteria along those lines.
He said that his company was able to somewhat anticipate the downfall of companies like Enron, WorldCom, and the like as there was a correlation between how they treated their employees, the community, the planet, etc.
Here's a list of the top 100 companies and how they rate on Calvert's scales:
Anyhoo, I have a feeling there's a lot of people on this forum who are concerned on where their money is going to this regard, so I thought I'd share this with you. Feel free to comment.

Is there any explaination as to why Walmart is ranked so poorly for environmentalism? I thought they were pretty progessive when it comes to energy efficency in their stores and launched a large campaign last year to put "green pressure" on their suppliers.

It might not have been updated since Wal-Mart announced the fluorescent light bulb thing.
However, Wal-Mart's aggressive cost cutting by sending manufacturers overseas isn't exactly an environmentally-friendly tactic.

So even though Anheuser-Busch got ratings of 3 or 4 in all categories, they were excluded because they are manufacturers of alcoholic beverages?
They stated that the origins of this practice centered around not supporting vices.
I seem to remember getting info about social responsible stocks and the list excluded companies making alcohol, tobacco, and firearms.
