Feel free to tell me if you think this idea is stupid.

There's been plenty of threads on "your dream band", and I thought it might make a cool tournament. It could follow the same format as all the other tournaments. Every contestant would pick one vocalist, two guitarists, bass player, and drummer (or whatever). Then we'll vote to see who has the ultimate "dream band".

just an idea.

I'd be down with that; sounds like fun. And I can't wait to see how the poster who picks Cornell as their vocalist gets ripped to shreds here.

Yeah, something like this was done, and it took goddamn forever. Your idea is a little different though, I'd be up for it.

Dream bands are stupid. Any studio musician worth his weight in shit can play whatever parts are necessary. The only thing that really matters is who is doing the songwriting. Unless you are talking about a prog or blues band in which case I guess the players might matter.

That being said, my dream band would be the following:

Brian Wilson
Phil Spector
Steve Reich/Philip Glass/Max Richter
Billy Corgan
Kevin Shields
Brian Eno
Christian Fennesz/Tim Hecker/Anthony Gonzalez
Luke Vibert/Richard D. James/Aaron Funk

That would be some incredible fucking shit right there.

Hmmm, narrowing it down to five:

Brian Wilson
Kevin Shields
Billy Corgan
Brian Eno
Richard D. James

Ok I lied. That was actually pretty fun. But a contest would be dumb, imo.

I'm done post-whoring now. :D

Just to clarify, I was thinking that each musician could only be picked once. So once player one picks John Bonham as their drummer, for example, he can't be picked by any of the other players.

Ohhhh I get it. Actually I think that would be fun, because I know I would get most if not all of my picks.

Give me...

Dave Grohl - Drums/Guitar/Vocals
SRV - Lead Guitar/Vocals and
Dave Matthews - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals

Three piece as God intended. Awesome. Could probably use some help with the songwriting, but.
