anyone have any suggestions? I mean, is there something I absolutely must try to see or do? I do have tickets to see Spamalot already and I'm afraid I don't have the money for other expensive shows :( I hear there are lots of free shows and cheap food that is really good, so maybe someone can help me to make the most of my free time (I'm going there for a conference for work). Thanks!

whatever you do...make sure that you set a limit on cash if you're gonna gamble...i'm not one to gamble at casinos, but the few times that i did i would bring say 100$...and if i lose it all by the end of the night, i would tell myself that the 100$ was the price of a fun night at the casino.

Thanks for the advice, I did plan on setting a limit, but I haven't figured out how much yet so I guess I better do that before it's too late!

It depends on your interests...I enjoyed the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. If I remember, it was somewhat pricey ~$25.

The fountains in front of the Bellagio are nice to watch.

I think there is still a show outside Treasure Island on a pirate ship that has changed from family oriented to not-so family oriented recently.

The drinks at the nightclubs are fairly pricey (well, I'm from WI and used to getting pitchers of beer for $5-6, so $5 a bottle is expensive). That said, I had a blast at Coyette Ugly (New York, New York?) and Bikinis (Rio). If you are going to hit a nightclub, ask your cabbie about nightclubs and s/he will probably slip you a free pass or twenty.

If you want to gamble for lower stakes head to downtown (Fremont St.). I actually like that area for gambling much more than the Strip.

Because most of us don't venture into the other areas of the board. Sifting through some of the threads in other sections is like trying to read a foreign language to some of us.

Make sure you are in vegas..when i went a few years back with my buddy, we played war all night for $2 a hand. when we went back to the hotel in the morning and asked where all the vegas buffets were the lady told us to get on the highway, go a couple exits down and look for any of the casino's. iguess we were in north vegas or old vegas :) either way we, gambled cheap, got free drinks all night, and found probably the only hotel that "allowed" us to leave 2 dogs in the room for the night. i would actually take that over $25 dollar minumums at a crowded casino anyday!

I want a little "stuff & nonsense" trading post subforum, so we don't ever have to leave home.

But it isn't nonsense, this is important. I talk about non-trading stuff here too, these are the people I want to talk to.

The fountains at Bellagio are fun to watch a show every half hour I beleive.

Treasure Island has a Pirate Battle out front, thats free too, and fun to watch.

If you play quarter slots you still get FREE drinks, just tip your waitress good and she'll be hustlin back to get you more drinks. You can order two at a time.

Rollercoaster at New York New York is fun. Dont know how much it is.

There is a tram that runs between MGM and most of the major Hotels on that side of the road, it will save you a ton on taxis..... use it.

Yeah, we need a GD section just for the trading forum. I'd like to never have to leave here either. Make it happen Angi.

I listened to the new one you sent last night. I like it a lot. I think you could definitely take your songs somewhere.

I need more though.

If you are looking for cheap show tickets there is a good place right on the strip in between the delicious Fat Burger and the Harley Davidson I believe. They sell discount tix for all the major shows and things to do, like shark reef. I got a package deal for the American Superstars show and dinner at the Stratosphere for real cheap there.

If you like classic cars there is a nice exhibit at The Imperial Palace.

If you are going to a strip club ask your cabbie. He will get you in free all over town to avoid the 20-25 cover and you just have to tip him. I know the place right behind the Hard Rock works this way and was great.

Speaking of the Hard Rock, you should definitely check out the awesome memoribilia, including some Pearl Jam stuff. Plus at the diner type restaurant Mr. Lucky 24/7, there is a wall sized poster of the famous black and white "Ed Lean" pic and they have a steak and shrimp local special for like 7 bucks.

Have a good trip and Good luck

lots of good advice in this thread. Best part about Vegas is you can drink anywhere (except maybe your own car) but you can in taxi cabs and while walking the strip. Never buy drinks in any hotel. They are crazy expensive. There are always waitresses around that will hook you up if you are gambling (or pretending to gamble). There are tons of good restaurants there, if that's your thing. Some world famous but also there are plenty of bargins. The buffets are a little overrated in my opinion. Most of the one's in the major hotels are a little expensive for average food. One thing to warned of is stay far away from any company trying to sell you a time share. They are everywhere out there. They make is sound so easy. Only 1 hour of your time, just come look around and you'll get free dinner, free shows, and gift certificates to spend somewhere. It's all bullshit and takes over 3 hours and trying to redeem everything is such a pain in the ass.

I went on this with my fiancee and she still makes fun of me for screaming like a girl.

If you are into thrill rides, there are a few at the top of the Stratosphere. Even if you do not want to go on the rides, head up there in the late afternoon. You can see Vegas in the day and then watch the Strip light up.

The drinks are expensive, but the Rio has a nice bar on pretty high up (53rd floor?) that gives you a nice view of the Strip at night.
