As you may remember, back in 1998, fans voiced their love of the song Breath at concerts by shouting for it, and taking along posters displaying the song's name, and after a few shows, the band took notice and played the song after a 4 year absence from the setlist!

The same happened this year when fans carried similar banners/posters etc. to shows in order to get the song Leash played again, and it was once more sucessful, with the song becoming a staple in the setlists of the 2006 World Tour.

This year, we want the same to happen again, using fan power to bring a tune back from the dead, and so we present The 3 P's Campaign:

PLEASE
PLAY
PILATE!

Go to The Army Reserve homepage and you can download a flyer/poster to print off and take with you to any shows you may attend! If enough fans participate, then we can get the band to bust out this old classic once more!

Print a copy for yourself, print one for your friends - do whatever it takes, and we can bring back Pilate!

I support this, but I'm not holding a poster or sign up during a Pearl Jam concert. I need one hand for my cigarette and the other hand for my drink.

switches on rant mode

I have 3 big issues with this.

1. Its really fucking annoying when you're at a concert and you can't see anything because there's a shitload of banners blocking your view. Personally i'm a giant so i look over them but my wife for example is not quite as tall and had many concerts semi ruined because she couldn't see shit.

2. If i were in a band, the last thing i need is the audience continuously holding up signs to play a song. Usually there's a reason it's not being played. The Leash thing went on for 3 years and really, after 3 shows people should have figured out already that they didn't want to play it. I can only imagine that after 3 years have passed and people still are asking for it, i'd play it as well just to shut everyone up. And to not alienate the people who only go to one show per tour, they kept playing it until the last date of the tour.

admittingly this is pure speculation, but it seems very logical and likely to me.

3. This point kind of voids 1 and 2 :| But Pilate? really?

i love your site man :)

Haha! Different strokes for different folks i guess. And in response to Conoalias - i don't expect someone to hold up a sign the entire concert - of coure that is inconsiderate to others - i meant maybe as the band return from an encore, so no-one misses anything.

And i just wanted to say, i only did this as a sort of fun thing for the community to do together - if you hate the song or don't think the band would appreciate the request, i'm not telling you you should participate, or that you must support the idea, it's just for fun, hopefully with added yield on a setlist :)

They should at least bring back a good song, not Pilate.
