I was just listening to the Grand Rapids boot and right before Daughter Ed says that this song is the wreck of Emily Fitzgerald.

He said "Edmond Fitzgerald". That was a ship that sank in Lake Superior.
I'm not sure exactly why that reference was made, besides the fact that they were playing in michigan that night. The cover art for the bootleg also demonstrates this.

It certainly was a shipwreck. Also, "The Wreck of Edmund Fitzgerald" is a famous song by Gordon Lightfoot. But most interestingly, old booglegs of the early "Gossman demos/ Stone Gossard demos" have a song labeled "wreck of Edmund fitzgerald." However, I do not remember that song being daughter.

Given that the show was in Michigan, Eddie was probably referring to the actual shipwreck. But I still have no idea how it has anything to do with Daughter.

Yeah, I was wondering why Ed would be mentioning one of my ex-girlfriends during a show. Thanks for the clarification.

I'll have to ask for her by name if I ever use the same service as you. ;)
