it sucks. I transcribed the lyrics for everyone so we can all discuss how bad they are.
"No More War"
I speak for a man who gave for this land
Took a bullet in the back for his pay
Spilled his blood in the dirt and the dust
He's back to say:
What he has seen is hard to believe
And it does no good to just pray
He asks of us to stand
And we must end this war today
With his mind, he's saying, "No more!"
With his heart, he's saying, "No more!"
With his life he's saying, "No more war!"
With his eyes, he's saying, "No more!"
With his body, he's saying, "No more!"
With his voice, he's saying, "No more war!"
Yeah, nothing's too good for a veteran
Yeah, this is what they say
So nothing is what they will get
And there's no American way
The lies we were told to get us to go
Were criminal (?)... let us be straight
Let's get to the point where our voices get heard
Behind the White House gate
With his mind, he's saying, "No more!"
With his heart, he's saying, "No more!"
With his life he's saying, "No more war!"
With his eyes, he's saying, "No more!"
With his voice, he's saying, "No more!"
With his body, he's saying, "No more war!"
No more innocents dying
No more terrorising
No more eulogizing
No more evangelizing
No more presidents lying
No more war
With our minds, we're saying, "No more!"
With our hearts, we're saying, "No more!"
With our lives, we're saying, "No more war!"

it's hard to cope with the revolutionary will when you over 40 - i think it maybe be a song that sucks, but picture yourself then...multimillionaire and all...
idk what to think of this song

You people also have to remember, it was just Ed solo. Might sound better with the full band. Might even add a fade out...
It's probably gonna stay a solo song, since Ed was talking in that interview earlier this week about him recording solo songs for a war veteran documentary. Either way it doesn't matter, because the music is not really the issue, it's the lyrics that are horrible.
It looks like he's trying to channel Ochs/Dylan/Guthry, but it's probably best if he just keeps on covering those songs.

Yeah the lyrics need some work.

you guys are on crack. i like the song, lyrics and all. did you ever think that some of those words might be from the guy the documentary is about?
from ed's interview:
"He's an incredible young man. I've been talking to him a lot lately. And I've written a couple of songs for him ... kind of becoming his voice for this movie."
and what does being a millionaire have to do with someones view of the war?

This song sounds like something I would have written in 7th grade, trying to sound like Eddie Vedder. How can the same man who wrote the lyrics to Grievance, Insignificance, and World Wide Suicide turn around and write this cliched mess? It's not just the lyrics either. The song sucks too.
