OK, we get it. Michael Vick is Steve Young, Dan Marino, Barry Sanders and Willie Gault all rolled into one. I figure we can get a lil drinking game going using the Vick hype as justification to drink.

I'll start

Vick gets praised when tackled for a loss. 6 sips
Vick called the best anything in the league. 3 sips
Vick praised after an incompletion. 3 sips
Vick and "dangerous" said in the same sentance. 2 sips
Vick called the best anything of all time or league history. 10 sips

I dont feel like thinking of more

I don't need drinking games to get drunk for the championship playoffs. ;)

Here are the facts:

Vick is a great player. With him the Falcons reach the NFC Championship, without him, they are under .500.

The Patriots are winners and deserve respect. They are tough to beat in the playoffs.

The Eagles choke and choke and choke, but are stacked this year and are hungry. They have a great chance of winning.

The Steelers have a great defense and running game, the X-factor is if their rookie QB will show up or not.

As for the rest of it......that is why they play the games!

jimmac, I think the reason Vick gets so much hype is because there's never been a player like him before. It's a new face. Plus, as tsunami alluded to, he means so much to the team. Superstars always get the face time, but as you should know as an Eagles fan (as well as fans of the Pats, and to a lesser extent, the Steelers), it takes a TEAM to be constantly successful.

Yes there has been. Randall Cunningham was very similar for the first part of his career.

Was Cunningham ever a critical keystone to his team like Vick is now?

The Falcons are not nearly what the Eagles were when Randall was their field general. Byers and Sherman were decent backs, and he had Keith Jackson to throw to and a DEVISTATING defense (White, Jerome Brown, etc).

Vick has himself and some gatorade.

The guy is special folks!

Well, I'd say Cunningham was very much like Vick, and we know where he got the Eagles, even with the best Defense in the league for a few seasons.

Anyway, my point....more than ripping on Vick (who I still think is vastly overrated), is that the media is just so out of hand with pushing certain players. There's hardly ever any debate, it's always this guy is the best and that guy is the best. The public sucks it up.

The offense? yeah. he was...

and to point out the defense... it really has nothing to do with Vick.. the Atlanta defense was great on its own.

Well.....check out the offense Cunningham had. A horrible Offensive line and average at best specialty players. Check out the stats from early in Randals Career.....he was a much better player. Hell, McNabb was a much better player at this point in his career and never got this much credit

Donnovan McNabb has 10 commercials currently on the air. I think that that means he is being recognized by the media.

Well it may not be that many, but he is definatly in more commercials than any other athlete.

I don't think so. I think Lance Armstrong is in more commercials than McNabb.

All of the Chunky Soup commercials are dumb, especially Kurt Warner's. Did anyone notice that in Donovan's earlier Chunky Soup commercials his "mom" wasn't his real mom?

Oh, and the Vick Experience commercial is creative, but I don't think it is his best commercial. I liked the Nike commercial with him, Urlacher, Agassi, Marion Jones, and Lance Armstrong where they were playing different sports than what they are known for. Now that was cool.
