Good hardcore band. They're playing Ozzfest too!

EDIT: Jim, the BAND is called between the buried and me, not the album.

Jim,

There are 100's of bands in Sweeden that have been playing this style (better) for 15 years. If you would like, I can recommend some.

There is a scene labeled "New Wave of American Heavy Metal" that has gained popularity amongst the kiddies. Some of these bands are great. I personally enjoy God Forbid. However, the sound and style are really just watered down versions of the Sweedish Melodic Thrash Metal explosion.

Check this site out:

i was just going down the aisle in best buy and noticed the name Alaska on a cd. then i looked closer and it mentioned something about Tool and Mars Volta and a couple other bands. so, i became intrigued. when i finally listened to it i could tell about 30 seconds in that this wasn't for me.

someone should name their band Alaska. that'd be cool.

I think this band is infinitely better than the majority of the other crappy american metal bands that have emerged in the past few years. They're pretty technical.

They're alright from what I could hear from their myspace page but they're still ripping off 15 year old Sweedish music. I'm glad bands are getting better though. Funny that they are on Victory. That's the 2nd band I've heard from that label that sounds like Sweedish metal.

Go buy Arch Enemy's Stigmata or Black Earth.

You want technical? Check out this band called Blood Has Been Shed. It's Howard Jones' first band before Killswitch Engage. The guitars are heavy as fuck.

Faded Pictures, Faded Memories
It's ok to share this since it was hosted by the band on purevolume.

Technically, all of these new Headbanger's Ball bands suck.

That was horrible. And not technical. At all.

I was running around doing some errands this morning blasting Alaska.
This whole album is crazy good. It's the type of metal you can actually sit down and listen with headphones (as opposed to gym music). Previous times I've listened to this, it's just been background music to me.

Great band.
