I really like this group. I searched and mowbs has a thread about their song Days of our Livez and that is a really good one.

I downloaded just about everything I could find from them, and though I don't like any song as much as "Home", I enjoy pretty much all of them. Actually, I have only listened to the 2-disc greatest hits album so far, but yeah it is good. It makes for a refreshing change.

I'm still hoping I will discover another song that is as good as "Home"... that is the most brilliant hip-hop song I've ever heard, period.

Any other groups that are similar?

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, it depends on how you look at it) there are no groups like them. They are really one of the most original hip-hop groups ever, and I think Krayzie Bone is a pretty welll underrated rapper.

The hits collection is good, but their catalogue is a little uneven. Their first EP, Creepin on ah Come Up, and their first full length E. 1999 Eternal, are both awesome.

A track you should immediately download is their collaboration with Biggie called "Notorious Thugs." Classic.

I've heard that song, it's on the greatest hits, really good.

Hey mowbs... I'm thinking of one of the rappers here, help me out. He is the one rapping from 3:55 to 4:40 on "Home", what is his name and does he have any solo stuff? He is my favorite.

"Home" is just one of those amazing songs that you wish there was more music like it, but then when you look for stuff that sounds like it you are always disappointed because the original is so incredible. It's good in a way because it has a certain unique quality. There have been songs in the past that caused me to get into an entire genre and this is definitely one of them, even if it can't be beat.

I type too much.

Didn't this group have a really big hit back in the late 90s? Unless I'm thinking of the wrong group. Anyway, this thread is going to make me get their hits album I'm sure.

I wouldn't know about their hits...

Seriously though, almost every time I type out a post, by the end I am thinking "why the hell did I type all that". :?

Wow, another of the Will Smith school of rap listeners in waiting. And I thought you were trying to present yourself as having good taste.

I say make posts as long as you want.

So, I listened to some clips on last.fm. It's all right, but I'm not sure if I would like them enough to warrant getting the hits album. :?

If you did like them I would be surprised.

They are kind of hardcore and not really accessible.

Do you like gangsta rap?

I'm not big into rap. I like my Coolio Gangsta's Paradise cd. I like Public Enemy. Some Eminem is all right. Um, I like some of the Ghostface songs I've heard.

That sums up my rap preferences I suppose.

Wow King criticises someone else's taste in music and doubts his originality. Now I've seen it all.

Nah, because Buff has been trying his hand at the snob thing lately, talking a bit of the trash, as they say. The thing that's interesting is whether he's trying to win his way back into peoples' hearts, or if it was suffering through all of that rackety racket that has shaped things to where dubious music with a lot of melodic quality is going to seem enjoyable to him.

At the same time I've been talking about my favorite ambient experimental bands I've been talking about No Code over in PJ Chat and rap and country in OB. What can I say, I am finding new stuff I like in all directions... cool and uncool. :D

But thanks for the thought King :heartbeat:
