Ok, I will be moving in the very near future, so I figure now is as good as a time as any to get a hdtv. I basically know nothing about it, I am a complete nOOb. I don't have enough $ for a real big one, so I figure 30-40" should be good. I will be getting direct tv, btw.

I have read NOD post that I don't want one with a built in tuner, do I need to pick up a tuner then? How will this work with direct tv?

Sorry for being such a nOOb.

1st off, what is your TV budget? 2nd can you get your local channels in HD through Direct TV, if not you would be better off with a model with a built in tuner. Ones manufactured after a certain date must include a tuner if sold in the U.S., new rules to force digital adoption. Let's start with your TV budget first.

Aside from the fact that built-in tuners are now standard, don't worry about it anyway -- your Direct TV HD receiver will act as your tuner.
