I'm getting pretty excited. Political songs aside, it's always nice hearing him play solo, as long as the uke is utilized minimally.
Or are you more interested in Peter Parker's dalliances with his snaggled-tooth ex and count them, 3 villians, in the movie event kickoff of the summer sequel season.
I don't care about him doing solo stuff on way or the other. To me it is nothing to get worked up about unless you are personally scoring good seats to one of the shows.
These things go in cycles. Following the long 1998 Yield tour Eddie spent 1999 doing "solo" gigs with a band called C Average. He even played the Tibet Freedom Festival with them that year. IMO the shows were forgettable.

I love those shows as well. I love C Average. RUNNING OUT OF TIME. I listened to the Dead Moon version for years not realizing what a great song it was until I heard Ed play it with C Average.

I love that version of I AM A PATRIOT, too. That version surpasses all others by everyone else, including Ed.

I'm always interested to see what Ed pulls out in his solo shows. Not to the point where I'll be sitting in front of my computer hitting the refesh button but enough that I'll be curious to find out the next day.

Couldn't agree more. And I like during '96 Buffalo how Ed teases the crowd about not even knowing what city they were in, "Utica?"

I love the punk versions of Patriot as well, but I don't know if I'd say they're that much better than the Ed acoustic solo versions. They almost feel like 2 completely different songs to me.

i am a fan of listening to the boots of ed's solo shows, and am usually pretty interested when there is one going on. one of the things i'm working on right now is a compilation of eddie solo stuff, and it is turning into a solid disc.

I need some of those c-average shows. I have one on a VHS tape I can no longer watch but I really loved it
I tend to not get excited for these kinds of shows unless they are taped and new songs circulate. I'd LOVE to be at one of them, and I'm happy for people who are, but the fact that somewhere Eddie may be playing doesn't really give me pause

I remember being in England in the summer of '99 about to see the Stones rock Wembly, and around that same time the TFC C-Average stunt occurred! That sent the boards aflame. So cool. Blonde-hair, too.
These shows, I'll be checking the tsis Sunday morning (I just cannot believe)

Eddie is great in folksinger mode, and I AM A PATRIOT is a song that he does really well, but Jon and Brad from C Average really take this song to a different level. Jon is a better back-up singer than even Matt. They also do something to his guitar playing. I think that Eddie is a really underrated guitar player even if he's no virtuoso, but his aggressive style becomes even more aggressive with Jon and Brad.
C Average are very cool even without Eddie. Their self-titled album and Second Reckoning are great to jam along with.

Saw ed with v average at TFC99 and i thought it was fucking great. Mixed views on ed with c average bu i love it. yea, the HOB shows opening for the who were sloppy, but that TFC and the other show in LA, the drug benefit are fucking kickass. yes, ed sounds great as a gutiarist there, very aggressive and messy, which i love. Loved his guitar tone during that period as well, was using a differetn setup and guitar....
I love the covers they did.
The tfc 99 show was awesome. My buddy just booked down to the front of the stage when ed called for a drummer..hilarious.

I love that "nasty" guitar tone. It's sort of a combination of dirty blues and thrash metal. Pearl Jam sound so refined by comparison.
