this is one of the worst things that could happen to one's ear, methinks. just plain creepy.

Spiders make home in boy's ear

These guys were not exactly Snap, Crackle and Pop.
What began as a faint popping in a 9-year-old boy's ear - "like Rice Krispies" - ended up as an earache, and the doctor's diagnosis was that a pair of spiders made a home in the ear.
"They were walking on my eardrums," Jesse Courtney said.
One of the spiders was still alive after the doctor flushed the fourth-grader's left ear canal. His mother, Diane Courtney, said her son insisted he kept hearing a faint popping in his ear - "like Rice Krispies".
Dr David Irvine said it looked like the boy had something in his ear when he examined him.
When he irrigated the ear, the first spider came out, dead. The other spider took a second dousing before it emerged, still alive. Both were about the size of a pencil eraser.
Jesse was given the spiders - now both dead - as a souvenir. He has taken them to school and his mother has taken them to work.

Even more creepy, I read about someone once who had an ant crawl inside their eye duct and laid eggs. They didnt know anything about it until at one point a few hundred ants came crawling out of his eye duct.
They said it was all painless, and the doctor basically just had him wait until they all came out.

I remember reading a book of urban legends when I was younger that was jam-packed w/ stories like some of the ones mentioned here.
- girl lays out sun-bathing. Ants crawl into nose while she's sleeping, lay eggs. Later much scratching ensues until she begins tearing off her flesh.
- girl w/ beehive hairdo refuses to wash and instead keeps spraying her hair to maintain its figure. Girl drops days later convulsing on floor. As they ready her for the funeral, they let her hair down to reveal that some insects (roaches?) had burrowed their way into her brain (moral: wash regularly: cleanliness is next to godliness)

that is so god damn gross!! I have sucked plenty of flies up my nose before but nothing as creepy as spiders or ants. I will probably be sleeping with goggles and ear muffs from now on.
