I prefer a good string of passes in my great goals. Even Maradona's against England doesn't really get me excited...but i'll certainly say this there is an incredible amount of skill in Messi's effort.

Agreed. And therefore that Brazil goal in the World Cup final 1970 (can’t look it up on YouTube from here at work) will probably always be my favourite goal ever.
Long distance shots not that much, since there’s still a very big amount of luck in every one of them, even from the best specialists. I appreciate them a lot. But I prefer individual dribbles and team efforts.
