very interesting...
the plot thickens..
I reckon PJ should do an album totally dedicated to Yellow Ledbetter
do every version thats been done..
then reveal the story behind Yellow Ledbetter.

that's almost exactly what i always thought yellow ledbetter. i always picture somebody standing on the porch recieving a telegram stating that their loved one had died.

I thought that interpretation was common knowledge at this point.

That's as good an explanation as I've ever read on the song.

I still wish it was an instrumental. :D

last year we had to write a descriptive narrative story for english. i wrote mine based on the lyrics of yellow ledbetter, or at least how i inturpretted them. I wrote about a family who used to all gather in the front yard, the children in the grass playing wtih toys as the parents watched from the porch swing. Then, after awhile the neighbors notice the grass is growing out of control, the kids are never outside, and the swing only glides when the wind blows. Then I said something about the eldest son that was off at war and they never saw him return or anything. Anyways, good shit twofeet.

Oh no, Eddie's mumbling is part of the magic that is Ledbetter! :D
The ever-changing lyrics also make it such a 'special' song..

Yeah, "special".

Seriously, I wish we had gotten an instrumental Ledbetter and Brother WITH lyrics on Lost Dogs. That would have been great.

Well those lyrics finally put some perspective on why they used it in the finale of the sitcom "Friends"

That really was a great read. thanks quite a bit. Especially after losing my best friend in Iraq recently. It gives a new perspective to that song.
