out of the blue, it was charging and the screen went all funny. it's now just a series of lines, so it'll play songs, but i can't choose what i'm playing.
this is my second one in 18 months. is it time to tell apple to fuck off and buy some other brand, folks?

my ipod broke too...
but thats b/c i dropped it one too many times...
it fell on my driveway, and when i picked it up, the screen showed a picture of an ipod frowning and said "contact customer support" or something to that degree...

i'm pretty sure i'm sunk, but i'm waiting to hear from my friend at apple. i think i'll have to get a new ipod and not some other brand, cos all the other brands down here don't have more than say 8gigs. mine's a 20 and i want a 40 or 60 or something.

you can reset it i think with a certain button combination. i have a 20 gig 2nd gen and had something similar happen. i googled it and now it works fine again.

tried. for some reason, it won't reset. it's been sitting on my desk for about 30min, not playing, ut not even switching off that way either

so i ended up shelling out for an 80gig video ipod, cos it wasn't fixable. they gave me $40 on the trade in. there really isn't an alternative down under, the other mp3 players here have sod all storage, so for now i'm stuck with apple.
i wanted to buy a skin for it but they were $50, isn't that just outrageous? no thanks.

welcome to the big leagues laura. if you want a case, go to ebay. NEVER pay store prices for those things. Find one you like in the store, make sure it fits and then look it up online.

it probably doesn't have the exact same features as the lateset ipods, but i have a walkman it was about half the price of the ipod equivalent at circuit city and it plays video and music (although the screen isn't really that big for videos)
