a lot of people are talking about how Ed is leaving the band, and that it was reported they have been fighting in the studio a lot, that the reason so many Ed shows have been solo is that he's getting used to it...
wtf?
also saying that the new interview on that radio station is sure fire proof that the band is breaking up, and that now it's just work to them...basically its their last album.
I don't think so, but it's wierd, there's a big thread dedicated to it.
how do the folks here at Red Mosquito think about it all?

I think it's completely unsubstantiated (mind you I haven't seen any of these threads, but I've seen them before every few months in different guises). Just utter crap. Someone will make one offhand comment after seeing Ed frown, or make some tiny remark which they took out of context, then a bunch of people will start freaking out thinking the band is breaking up, then a bunch more people will think the band's breaking up and try to think of why this could be so, it all snowballs and a lot of people get all worked up or virtually nothing.
But hey, they could be at each others throats with knives as we speak, I don't know and neither does anyone else.

I'd say it's a little more like this.

i think ed's just kinda worn out. he deserves a break.
Maybe so, but it's been over two years since they last released an album. That's a big break for them.

I don't know if you've got that Big Brother show over there, but if you've seen the show at all, or know what I'm talking about, you'll understand this one point: when people are bored enough, they'll talk all kinds of shit.

I think Pearl Jam recorded some of their best stuff when they hated each other (Vitalogy, No Code, maybe Yield). Perhaps it lends itself to them saying, "Fuck you! That sucks! I'm not putting that on MY album." As opposed to putting whatever pours out of them onto an album like Binaural and Riot Act.

Even though they aren't my favorite, i think the band's most cohesive albums (and cohesive isnt always good) in Ten and Vs. So I think Stone should spend some time making music bring it in for Ed to write lyrics for. Let Jeff write a song and Mike and Ed too and you're golden.
I dig Vitalogy and No Code and all but the overdominance of Ed songs makes them dry for me. Despite the anger, which is great!

Like vacatetheword said, this kind of thing comes up every now and then and it has been coming up since 94. It is easy to get suckered into thinking that something bad is happening. All I have to do is think back to 10/8/04 and remember how unbeliebable the band and crowd were that night. Everything is fine and with any luck we will all be seeing them this summer.

yeah...no one at synergy knows the band with the exception of like two people (kat and sea) and they are the ones who always squelch the rumors...so why would you ever believe the hype...
if you want proof of how retarded synergy is, go back to the old board and read some of their posts when synergy was down...OUT of control...
ledbetter, you're right. i forgot about that madness. every once in a while i decide to check that board out. i also now remember the big hype over Ed wearing a blue polo in LATG. hehe. its just that interview and then people saying that pretty much got me suckered into believing it...

Ed having a kid and settling down makes him re-examine his priorities and touring and writing new songs isnt on top of the list.
why does any band break up?Why did Soundgarden,The Smashing Pumpkins,Rage Against the Machine break up?
Most bands seem to break up when
1)the popularity isnt there anymore (So how many albums that dont sell can a band release on a major label before it just goes Indie or breaks up?)
2)bands start families and music is no longer "their life"
3)bands get tired of each other and drift into other projects.
While I liked Riot Act and Binaural,Ed sounded tired in thous albums. My guess the new album will be acoustic lullabye type songs with a few rockers thrown in.
Not something that will excite most people to caring about Pearl Jam again.
And the kid-I think Pearl Jam always sounded mature and older for its age.Now a middle aged guy is starting a family. Not something that makes a band take risks and try something fresh.
synergy?Too be honest,I havent even visited there in over a year. But dont most bands break up eventually? What band has been together for a longtime besides The Stones?
