So i'm watching "going tribal" last night ont he discovery channel, great show.

Why the fuck is it ok to show these people completely naked, cock sswinging back and forth, nuts hanging even further, boobs dangling in your face...

but the minute a white man gets naked they blur it out? Or janet jacksons nipple falls out for .5 seconds and the world is up in arms?

My sister seems to think that its because we view these tribal people as a lower class, closer to animals.
Thoughts?

The discovery channel is made entirely for educational purposes. If a white man were cock-dangling on "going tribal", I doubt they would blur that out.

btw, is your sister hot?

i don't think it has anything to do with viewing these people as lower class, but more with respecting their culture as is. But yeah there is somewhat of a double standard about it.

It has to be explained by the "educational purposes" arguement. Remember in 6th grade when they showed us a video of a woman giving birth? Yeah it was ridiculous, but they don't want to blue out anything that will help you learn more about something important.

Also, my mom is almost 50. I'll take your virgin sister, done deal.

That's a nice thought, but I tend to go with strat's sister's argument.

There are a lot of "educational" programs on Discovery and other cable channels (shows on sexual physiology and other medical shows) that routinely blur out the tender parts, even when by doing so they completely negate any educational value that particular camera shot may have had.

I truly believe that the reason these anthropological shows are allowed to show full frontal nudity is because the people shown are considered to be "less human" by whoever is making that decision to show it. It's the only rationale that makes any sense in comparison to the medical shows. These are people in their natural, animalistic state, and for some reason somebody with the power to make such decisions thinks that this nudity is not sexually arousing (but the nipple of a white woman whose breast is completely sliced up in a cancer surgery is).

Lets be honest, its because a white man's penis is simply disgusting while a nubian wang is a thing of beauty.

as someone who graduated with a degree in Anthropology, the fourth year seminars certainly delt with the issue of Anthropologists comparing their own paradigm to others - there's no choice in the matter...and i'm convinced that although you can make a claim that you can view all cultures with objective "all paradigms can be valid ones" kind of approach, in the end you still contrast it to your own Western ideals...

sexual intercourse is also a natural animalistic act, yet it's censored. if what you are saying is the actual reason for showing tribal nudity than whomever makes the decision to show so is seriously fucked up in the head.

I hear this thread. The hang up society has over nudity is ridiculous.
