Does anyone think they made some good decisions in their career?

Official bootlegs is without doubt their #1 best move.

- having Ed to write most of the lyrics again on S/T
- releasing elaborate booklets for Vitalogy and No Code
- not releasing the alternate Jeremy video and Oceans' back in the day
- sticking to their own values even if it alienates some fans

If it wasn't for this I probably wouldn't have become a fan again.

taking the time, when they were the biggest band out there, to be neil young's backing band and create their best music to date on merkinball/ mirrorball as well as their best album to date no code.

nobody would/ will ever do what they did

This is probably their greatest credit. I remember Pete Townshend saying that Pearl Jam were the most honest band in the world, and he's probably right. They're made a great name for themselves doing things their own way and it's probably the reason they've survived as long as they have.

The fact they have a voice is another biggie...their activism work is one of the things that sets them apart from other bands, and will probably help shape their legacy.

not a band decision, but eddie's decision to upgrade to a model was a good move IMO.

Oh, and well done for creating this thread by the way...16 or whatever pages of the 'worst decisions' was beginning to get a little depressing. Hopefully this one will over shadow it :)

Thanks, iceagecoming.

I want to believe those of us who frequent this board must like something about them.
