I thought it was okay. Not scary, though.

The book is tremendous. It was the first "big" book that I ever read; I was in seventh or eigth grade at the time and I had watched the movie and loved it. It seemed more like an adventure story than a horror story to me, which is actually what Stephen King calls it (he notes it as a precursor to his superior "Dark Tower" series, which, among other things, has the "Turtle-god" that is mentioned in "It"). The book does have scary moments, though, and with Tim Curry's (sp) wonderfully played clown in mind, some of the book's violent scenes had me in nightmares for years.

In my opinion, T.C. gave the best performance in a TV movie, ever. Read the movie and watch the book! 8)

TNT was going to do a remake of this, a two-hour version. I think it got bagged, thankfully, after the failure of the "Salem's Lot" that un-graced the screen earlier last year.

I'd love to see a better written, better acted new 4 hour version of this.

I hated the movie, but thought Tim Curry was a definite shining moment.

I, too, read the book in 7th or 8th grade. I want to go back and reread it now. Half priced books, here I come.

Missed opportunity at humor. The sunglassed smiley means I meant it.
