I turned on my CPU yesterday and i keep getting a BLUE screen. I inserted the disk and reformated my hard drive. It goes through the whole formatting process and it also begins to install XP. I am able to choose time zone and name my computer etc.. and when it seems like everything is installed the BLUE screen comes back up. I have done this process before and it worked fine but now i dont know what to do.

ANY HELP PLEASE!!!

THANK YOU :)

i hate the blue screen...

something like this happened to me a while ago... i was doing a fresh install of xp and when it was done, i would get the blue screen... i ended up doing it 3 more times and still the same thing...
turns out a i had a faulty piece of ram in there... i took it out and it worked fine after that...

then i got a mac and all my troubles went away...

I tried 2 times and the blue screen keeps poping up. I can even get to the Windows XP screen where it looks like it is loading and everything looks fine.

Sounds like Explorer isn't starting. Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete>File>New Task (Run...)>type in explorer and press enter. That's my best guess.

i did this...again, and...again, it proved to be the problem and the solution. The blue screen means that Windows Explorer isn't loading automatically. I guess. I've run into the "Blue Screen of Death" several times and command lining explorer has got me out of it every time. If all else fails just force yourself into the root and figure it out. It can't possibly be that hard...it really can't.

Are you actually doing a full format or are you just doing a repair/reinstall? Not to say you don't know what you're doing, but some people confuse the term "formatting" and popping in the windows disc and following the prompts.
