So what does everyone think is going to happen. The tour starts friday and there has been no annoucement for or not for bootlegs. Someone is stating a source told them that there would not be bootlegs. The packages for germany and london state a bootleg would be included with the purchase. What does everyone think is going on?

You are reading my mind.....I wish they would announce something.

The thing is, when the VFC tour went down, people knew right away that there would not be any bootlegs. I wonder if maybe the band is re-thinking the whole basecamp productions thing. I figured they would have atleast announced something to give tapers the heads up.

as much as they try/pretend, theyre not exactly a taper-friendly band. i dont consider what they have a "taping policy." so i would be shocked if they did something considerate like letting us know so tapers could prepare.

I am not saying directly for tapers. But a simple " no bootlegs for 2007 tour" is not a hard thing to do. Unless there simply still try to either negoitate something with Basecamp. Or waiting till they have what there going to do this time around in place.

you'll go nutty trying to make sense of what the band's management does these days. logic has no place in their decisions and that "fans first" attitude that we all try to hang on to might still be a consideration, but is far from a priority.

I'm the one saying it because that's what I heard from what I consider a reliable source (who I'm sure is on this board though I don't know it's username here).
and since, I talked to other people from the US, they said they heard the same thing (don't know from whom)
And I emailed 10c to confirm we can still tape 'becasue there won't be bootlegs', and got a 'we've always allowed taping, but no mic' (yeah right ) and nothing to contradict the no bootleg comment.
they'd also gave me a doom looking answer to earlier queries about boots: 'This is not likely' (and nothing else).
hope it's not true, but I'm taking my player and mic with me to be safe.

From the looks of it, official ones? Not bloody likely. Unofficial ones? Count on it.
It is looking bad at this point. But there has been no "no bootlegs" at this point. So maybe ten club is planning something for after the tour. We will see.
a lot of these festivals are being broadcasted on both TV and or FM, so maybe the TenClub is just cutting production costs for this tour and let the networks do their job.

Yeah... but as good as some unofficial bootlegs can be... I still prefer my official bootleg.
I thought they wanted to keep putting their live shows available and repeated that in lots of interviews ever since 2000, even last year. What's with that?

the band needs new management

the only positive reason i can think of:
maybe they are trying the DVD thing, and if its not feasible to do the mixing/manufacturing for a DVD of every show, theyll fall back to CDs or downloads.
the chances of this being the case might be slim. it seems idiotic to not offer bootlegs after so many media reports have deemed PJ to be the pioneer of mass official bootlegs. however, as we have all seen, idiotic isnt exactly impossible for the band's present management.
