what albums or songs are haunting to you? a few that come to mind

pearl jam - vitalogy (esp. immortality to stupid mop)

elliott smith - from a basement on a hill

though the most haunting elliott smith tracks have to be:
everything means nothing to me and i didn't understand

nirvana - unplugged in new york
for obvious reasons

grandaddy - so you'll aim to the sky
the ending is freaky

pink floyd - dark side of the moon

the eels - electro-shock blues
specifically the first 2 tracks

what else guys?

"House of Wax" by McCartney has a haunting feel to it.

Very.

Hell, I think "If It Smashes Down" even trumps it in that respect. That song gives me the chills.

Interesting. Not what I would have thought.

the alienation that the lyrics convey plus the hypnotic bassline plus the cathartic and somewhat organized cacophony of the horns = haunting (for me at least) :P
