i've decided it's not the team that makes who the fans are. it's just the fucking people, guys. new yorkers are inherently cocky, it has nothing to do with the yanks. bostonians have a tradition of being annoying, not just as associated with the sox, but as a whole. sorry guys, it's true. i mean, i'll give you oakland raiders fans being weirdos but steve bartman and jeffrey maier didn't do that because it's something chicago or new york fans do, it's because of what fans do.

actually, one other exception is mets fans, i can't say i've met many smart fans of the mets. i know one fan who was one of those guys who said peyton would never win one 'because he's just not a winner.'

this is one of the worst threads i've encountered on this board.

I'm not following. At first you say the actions are based on the city. Then you state at the end of your rant that it's just what "fans do". There are asshole fans, stupid fans, smart fans, congenial fans, etc. wherever you go. Except in Atlanta where apparently nobody cares.

Welcome to a c_b thread. I think he means it's not that Yankees fans are morons, it's that NY'ers are morons and that's where they come from.

Yeah, I got that part, but then he went and totally contradicted himself. Plus it's a dumb theory.

blanket generalizations are never a product of higher thought.

yeah that's actually true in Atlanta, people spend more time worring about food, beer, or the chick at the chophouse than the game. There are very few actual hardcore fans of any one team in Atlanta.

people like sports and they go to the games, but it's not like it is elsewhere and it's nothing like College Football here.

Obviously I'm a Boston fan, and I think our fans, in general, are pretty well-informed, which is why i respect most NY fans, because while they may annoy me (superiority complex), they're into their teams and they stand by them, for the most part.

I'll take that over fans that tend to jump on bandwagons, which Atlanta fans do, and many florida sports fans.

Although, this thread is a big-time generalization. There are Red Sox fans that I can't stand just because they're so obnoxious, and don't know anything about baseball. Same can be said for just about any fan-base, there are the diehards, and the hangers-on and fairweather fans. Regardless of the city, team and sport, there are people that are into the game, and others that are into the spectacle.

Sounds like more of an NY-Boston rivalry.

i'm a huge baseball fan and i've been to every current stadium, some more than once, and i would have to say (as much as it hurts to say this) the most diehard baseball fans i met were at yankee stadium.

now, i am a huge braves fan and i've been to lots of braves games and i really am there to see the game, most braves fans i've encountered are just there but aren't really watching the game.

the worst was i was at a world series game (game 3 florida marlins 2003) and the people on my row kept getting up to get food, like they didn't even realize it was a world series game...

Agreed. Mancs=arrogant tossers. Scousers=self-pitiers hence self-importance. People from H*rr*ng*y=snobs, up their own arse, convinced H*rr*ng*y is so much better than Islington. People from West London=snobs who have their heads up their own arses and don't mind selling their souls.

Not to mention all norverners=scum, in fact anyone born norf of Watford is a sheep shagger.
