i finally got a chance to listen to this yesterday and my initial impression was....wow.... obviously far too early to judge, but I think this will be on as many people's top 10 lists at the end of the year as dead city, red sea....
It seem's to branch out a bit more from the 'mbv/shoegazing' feel dead city, red sea had... The variety made for quite an intense listen though... This one definitely won't disapoint if you already like M83

I've heard mixed things about this record actually, and I still need to check it out. The first album was pretty good, but not terribly accessible - unless of course you like Styx's hokey electronic midsection of Come Sail Away. There were still some really cool songs on that record though. Thanks for reminding me

I just heard the new album, and I must say I'm impressed, although I'll have to hear it a few more times to really get through it. Its not necessarily better that the first but a change in direction rather. Its better than what I had expected, although I had heard mixed reviews.

M83 is music that absolutely must be listened to at extremely high volumes in order to fully appreciate it. I think I'll burn it to CD and blast it in my living room. Big open spaces do wonders for densely layered music like this.
