Lets just do this as a thread so we can spare everyone this discussion in every single set post

Following the setlists it is obviously more fun seeing rarer songs, and not knowing anything else it may influence which boots I listen to.

However, being at a show and listening to boots I am MUCH more concered with how good the songs are. I'd rather listen to them nail the most vanilla setlist in the world then have a sloppy collection of infrequently played songs

If I had to choose I would go with Performance.

However IMO Performance can be affected by the choice of setlist, and a good setlist will have some rare songs.

Also I am going to see three shows this tour and I don't really want three great shows just with the same songs, I want to hear some No Code which these days is rare. I would take a rare songs over performance in one of those shows.

When I'm at a show and the PA system can fuck with the nuances of the sound, I'll definitely go for rarities.

Can't I have rare songs at a high quality? You know, like Philly 05.

Great Performance all the way, it's nice to have a rarity thrown in but as I've only seen them twice so far I'd take a great "greatest hits" set over a sloppy set with a few rarities thrown in although I must admit it was nice to hear Why Go at the Astoria it was the 3rd time they'd played it since 1995, and to get Education for the first time ever at Dublin :D

I don't really care either way. It's always good to have a good balance of both.

Considering we only get a show every three of four years I'll take whatever comes. Luckily one of the last ones was Newcastle!

I would have loved to see an entire Pearl Jam/Riot Act setlist to see songs that i hadn't really had a shot at hearing live but I understand how much the vibe of the crowd contributes to a show and if they don't play favourites then half the crowd goes home and if they don't play rarities then the other half starts crying :)

So really i don't know which to choose :)

I would love hearing all of RA live at a show.

i usually just want to see alot of songs i havent seen before, and there are plenty of pretty regular songs i havent seen yet

hail hail
immortality
fuckin up
once
oceans ( not really regular or rare )
dissident
nothingman
sometimes
red mosquito
faithful
low light
in hiding
thin air
all or none
big wave
inside job

none of those are really rare, thought there are tons i havent seen that are rare, but if i get to mark 4 or 5 of those off my list then it doesnt matter how much of a "hits" list it might be, im gonna be excited as hell.

i'd say rare tracks, cause oftentimes, when the band is one fire, they know it, and are more likely to try random shit. its not often that the band plays a shitty show full of rare stuff.

my vote for rare counts even more this tour, as i'm afraid we'll get average setlists most nights. the band probably didn't practice as many as they usually do before a major tour, what with only like 13 dates being scheduled...

I will beat Angus in this thread by referencing Kitchener 2005.

rare tracks. unless it's major and extremely obvious, i won't notice minor fucks ups, imperfections, or even perfectly played songs during the show; until i can listen to the bootleg a couple times.
