Why don't they play this song anymore live?? I would go insane if they decided to belt it out. I love it. Does it have anything to do with Matt not being able to do the drum part right because it does seem like a song only Jack can do.

im sure if they wanted to play it matt could do a good enough job, but i tihnk the reason for them not playing it is because it is a jack only song, i think its pretty safe to say that it is one of the songs that never would have happened without the influance of jack

I love this song. One of my favorites. I think with some songs, they like to hold onto for a while.
I bet it gets played sometime in 05, 06, or 07. I bet it comes right before they play leash again live.
Great song, though. The Germany version is great. I am a donut.

It surprises me that more people don't like this song. I fucking love it, and agree it should be brought back.
this is really stupid, but, whenever I near the completion of a job, or a task, or about to accomplish something, I get the intro drum beat in my head, almost like my rally cry. it's so good. have LOVED this song since the first time I heard it, in my driver's ed Camaro, summer of '96. have NEVER grown tired of it.
frank, i think you sent me a message, but it's been super busy here in these parts. i'm going to check it out tonight, and am really anticipating it!

There's some interview with Jeff (I think) around the Binaural-era where he's asked by the interviewer if it's different playing In My Tree now without Jack.
Jeff explained that Matt was really reluctant to play any of the songs that have distinctive Jack beats as he wouldn't be able to replicate such a "Jack groove" in the same way. In the end they still really wanted to play In My Tree so told Matt to just play his interpretation of it instead.
I'm guessing Who You Are also falls into that "Jack groove" category.

I heard that too. Matt should just go ahead and suck it up.

I was just about to quote that part from that interview! it was from a Billboard interview in 2001.
I'd love to see Matt work on it and for this to make a return. It's the only PJ song that's been shelved that i'm really itching to hear line.
