26th all-time hits:3002
6th all-time doubles: 658
Tied 14th all-time runs: 1821
23rd all-time games: 2781

I heard a stat last night, either in 1997 or 1998 Biggio never grounded into a double-play.

Biggio to retire at end of 2007 season. They're thinking he's going to play a little catcher during the last game against the Braves (if the playoff picture is solidified).

the pride of Kings Park, Long Island! He must have been a sick athlete in high school because apparently he won the award for best football player in Suffolk County his senior year.

*It should be noted that while he is 6th all-time in doubles, he now holds the record for most doubles by a right-handed hitter.

i got a little emotional watching the celebration and postgame last night. really glad the stros were able to come back and win it also. kind of funny how he got thrown out trying to stretch it to a double on #3000 also.

The win was huge. Hopefully they can get some sort of momentum from it. Anything at this point could help. True Biggio fashion on display in trying to stretch it out into a double. On the replay, it actually looked like he missed the tag, but it was close regardless. Cruz was waving him on too, and the replay was hilarious... Jose says 'yeah yeah yeah he got it!', then once he sees Craig is out, 'oooohhhh noooo!'. He was also screaming, 'where's the ball, where's the ball?' when everyone went out to congratulate their teammate. Good stuff.

Don't forget that Biggio has the career lead in HBPs (pending Carlos Quentin finally sticking in the bigs). Bill James caught quite a bit of flak for proclaiming Biggio the best player in the game, but when you look back on his career...played up-the-middle, and at the two most demanding and physically punishing postions, handled centerfield...his career is at the least as impressive as Ripken's.

I'd put Biggio on my all time team's bench for sure.
