Hey guys i'm looking to get a laptop sometime in the near future and would like some advice on what brand, model etc. to get.
I won't be playing games or anything. I would like a really clear screen with a good video card and the best sound I can get.
Any help?
Thanks
MacBook Pro. You will not regret it.
Yeah, if you want to spend an arm and leg when you don't have to
yup
Can't argue with that. I only bought mine because I was taking out a student loan anyway and just added a couple extra grand.
I actually will argue with it. I bought a 17 inch macbook pro after comparing it with a 17" dell with similar hardware. The dell specs didn't fully match the power of the MBP and it didn't have the camera/software/utilities/backlit keyboard that come with a mac and yet it still was only about 300 less than the MBP. I'm extremely happy with the mac.
EDIT: I think this is a common misconception -- it results from mac not having a low-end option where other manufacturers do.

I've had my Dell Inspiron 1521 for about a week and love it. Got it for around $1200.
Vista Premium 1.8 Ghz AMD 2 GB RAM, 2 DIMM 160 GB SATA HD (7200 RPM) 128 MB ATI Radeon graphics card 15.4" HD widescreen Dual layer DVD writer 8-in-1 media card reader Integrated wireless and Bluetooth Integrated 2.0 Mpixel webcam Soundblaster Audigy HD audio
The audio still doesn't match a standard set of speakers, but it's a lot better than your standard laptop audio. I was initially going to hold off on getting a new laptop with Vista, but I figure it can serve as a testbed. I've still got XP on my desktop. The Windows Aero interface is bad'ass.

I was googling it, and apparently Apple used to say that integrated graphics siphoned memory, but ever since instituting it in their G4 minis and macbooks, they've called it an economical and capable alternative. Some speculate the reason they don't offer a standalone graphics card is that it would make the mac book too comparable to the macbook pro. Why offer a capable machine at $2000 when you can offer it for $2500?
