Did anyone notice the Late Show comments last night during [Adult Swim]? The stuff in between the cartoons where they said something like:

"...There will be tributes ...but The Tonight Show hasn't been The Tonight Show since Johnny Carson retired... the real Tonight Show is The Late Show hosted by a fellow named David Letterman,.. the views expressed here are those of [adult swim] and you, the viewer."

It was sort of like, yeah, okay, that's true, but why instigate while people are grieving? It was weird.

Anyone see it?

They're saying the truth, but about a week or so too early.

I guess I don't see how this is instigating anyone other than Jay Leno.

Agreed.

right. i think the point is that Letterman was "supposed" to get the job after Johnny left. so when he didn't and that dimwit Leno got it, Letterman bailed for CBS.

personally, I prefer Carson's brand of wackiness to Dave's, but that's just my opinion

Agreed. I just couldn't really figure out why they would bother; I mean, we all know the Letterman story; it was just sort of "odd", even for [adult swim].

i thought the adult swim tribute was the most fitting i've seen... it was like a moment of silence, it was very somber and surreal... i thought it was amazing personally, because they really captured what it was about when they mentioned how he made us laugh... i really liked it

Is it really necessary to always put "adult swim" in brackets?
