When trying to pm someone from their post, it just quotes them instead. So, I have to look up their profile and pm from there. Is it a bug, or my stupidity.

When you PM someone from a post, it will quote that post into the PM. That's a feature, not a bug. If you dont want to the quoted text in there, you can just delete it
