this is a wing formation. sometimes the qb will be in shotgun. tb is usually directly across from qb, and almost always in junior high and high school there will be a fullback lined up in the backfield. lots of tosses, options, and screens are ran from the wing.

The team (7th and 8th graders) I coached in North Carolina was full of freak athletes, so we ran five lineman, a tailback, four receivers, and the qb. Teams were clueless in trying to defend us at that level.
Imo, good coaches adapt their style of play to the players they have. Stubborn, know-it-all coaches don't.
And yeah, we ran a 5-3 on defense due to the fact that most teams ran about 90% of the time.
