Alright fuck it I've been jonesing to start this thread since the annuals came out. Since pjfan80 fired up the pick 'em on Yahoo, and the media days are kicking off, I figure it's time to start discussing. Offer predictions, pimp your favorite team, etc.
My prediction for Texas - Wins over OU and aTm, a Big 12 Championship, but left out of the national title picture due to an unexpected loss. Best idea where that comes right now is at Oklahoma State. The Longhorns have some nice talent back on both sides of the ball but the biggest concerns are a mostly revamped offensive line and losses from a secondary that was pretty bad last year. I look for McCoy to have a huge year along with Limas Sweed. Hopefully Jamaal Charles can show a little more toughness to go along with his amazing talent.
I think Nebraska takes the Big 12 North.
Other conferences: Big 10 - Michigan Pac-10 - USC (duh) ACC - Va Tech SEC - LSU Big East - WVU

I was thinking about starting this thread too.
I'm kinda worried that there will be less controversy about the BCS this season, as I'm seeing USC/Michigan as a clearcut #1/#2 at the moment. Maybe Wisconsin could throw a monkey wrench in the plan.
Hawaii could help screw things up--they have a shot at going undefeated. They should be 9-0 heading into two home games against BSU and UW. Huge pressure on Colt Brennan, obviously.
I also like Texas in the Big 12--I'll try and keep an eye out on Sweed's progress.
Big Ten - OSU and Wisconsin will share it. Big XII - Texas Pac 10 - USC SEC - not LSU...Les Miles is terrible. Big East - WVU I guess ACC - I can honestly say I do not care one bit about this conference, so I won't pick anyone

Well, Florida State finally has some dcent coaching so their season will actually be interesting. I think Texas will be something to watch out for; and USC will be something because they have about 18 five star recruits playing on their current team. Virginia Tech's defense will be amazing.

ahhh man USC is going to be great...but their schedule is hell. Road games to Berkeley, Eugene, Lincoln, South Bend(laugh it up, that place hates USC), and Tempe. Home schedule, not as demanding...only UCLA and Oregon State will provide challenges. Needless to say, this team is too talented to go anything less than undefeated and go to the NC game. Likely against LSU, WVU, Michigan or Wisconsin.

Probably not this year, but no John L Smith. He was a fucking nutjob who knew nothing about football. It's amazing that this team has only had one good football coach in the last 25 years. What's funnier is that the Lions haven't had one since the 50's

Well, as much as I dislike Perles, he did a decent job in the late 80s/early 90s, so I'll say they've had two, but it is a stretch. I'm not expecting any success this year, as they have zero talent, unless Dantonio pulled in some recruits that play out of their mind.
An argument can be made that Joe Schmidt would have made an alright coach if the Ford family had any sense.
I've learned over the years that I can't make preseason college football predications for shit. I have no idea who will win each conference. Things seem more wide open this time around too. It does suck that my team should have one of its best in some years, but their schedule is rediculous. Beats playing in the SEC tho.

you're a mizzou fan, right? a lot of people are predicting they will win the North. the game against Nebraska will be key for them.
I like both teams quite a bunch having grown up in Nebraska and now going to school at Mizzou. I actually just bought about 20 tickets for my family and friends who want to come down for the game. It's going to be good. Mizzou's offense is fun to watch.

I have this nagging feeling that the Big 12 will be a bit off from what people are expecting. In fact, I wouldn't put it past the North to regain the title this year. I do think that if A&M was able to beat Texas in Austin, they'll be able to do it again in College Station, though.
doubt it happens though, no one really available, other than ND, who would be insane to join any conference for football.
Notre Dame would be the only team worth expanding for. The conference will want a good academic school and ND seems like the logical choice...but I doubt they'll ever leave their NBC contract. Chances of this happening: 1%

I'd honestly say the chances are even less than 1%

And that's fine with me. I don't want a lame conference championship game...we already have one.

I do too. A&M have a hell of a schedule my friend. Trips to Nebraska and Mizzou will be tough. Ill be rooting for them in the south though.
