New details on Kubrick massive release
New details on Kubrick massive release Here's more info on the upcoming DVD of Kubrick films.
2001: A Space Odyssey is getting the 2 disc treatment and will feature a new audio commentary with Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood, an interview with Kubrick and the featurettes, Standing on the Shoulders of Kubrick: The Legacy of 2001, Vision of a Future Passed: The Prophecy of 2001, 2001: A Space Odyssey - A Look Behind the Future, 2001: FX and Early Conceptual Artwork and Look: Stanley Kubrick plus a trailer. This may finally replace the Creative Designs DVD of the film I have autographed by Dullea and Lockwood.
Eyes Wide Shut will in fact be the unrated version! The R-rated version is also included for completists. The film will be accompanied by an audio commentary with Sydney Pollack and Peter Loewenberg, the documentary The Last Movie: Stanley Kubrick and Eyes Wide Shut, the featurette Lost Kubrick: The Unfinished Films of Stanley Kubrick, Kubrick's acceptance speech for the D.W> Griffith Award, interviews and trailers.
A Clockwork Orange will include commentary with Malcolm McDowell and Nick Redman, the documentary Still Tickin': The Return of Clockwork Orange, the featurettes Great Yarblockos!: Making A Clockwork Orange and O Lucku Malcolm along with one of the best trailers in film history.
The Shining, finally in widescreen will includin an audio commentary with Garrett Brown and John Baxter, the documentary The Making of the Shining with optional commentary with Vivian Kubrick. (Hopefully this documentary include's Vivian's amazing home videos), the featurettes View from the Overlook: Crafting the Shining, The Visionsof Stanley Kubrick and Wendy Carlos, Composer. A trailer is included as well.
And Full Metal Jacket will include an audio commentary with Adam Baldwin, Vincent D'Onofrio, R. Lee Ermey and Jay Cocks and the featurette Full Metal Jacket: Deluxe Edition and a trailer.
Barry Lyndon will also be released in an Amary case on that date with no upgrades. No word on Lolita.

I've been waiting for a widescreen version of The Shining forever. And that FMJ commentary sounds awesome. Great news for DVD lovers.
I thought that full screen was the OAR of the Shining?

I don't know what OAR stands for.
original aspect ratio... i know full metal jacket is 4:3, but i don't know about the shining
That's what my copy of the Shining claims it to be.

If this is true I'm going to throw up. Why, of all people, would Kubrick choose to shoot a movie in full-screen? Especially The Shining....
i remember reading something about how kubrick knew they would be shown on tv, so he filmed that way... i don't know if that's bullshit or not. Maybe it's an homage to older cinema or something
