I just found the option to change the name that iTunes refers to sort artists and such (sort name, sort artist, etc.), which comes as a great feature to me ( I prefer last name, first name... but this doesn't work when attempting to attain album artwork) However, I have found only one way to edit that, which is by clicking on "more info" one song at a time. Is there any way to change the sort artist of multiple files all at once?

Thanks!

Hold down CTRL and click on each file you want to rename but it must be the same artist you want to change it to. If you do this for different artists, they'll all be changed to the same thing.

Hope that's what you were after..

to add to what lk1 said, you can also play around with SHIFT. say if you want to change song 1 thru 13 of a specific album you click once on track 1 hold SHIFT and then click on track 13. this way it selects everything in between as well.

right, I know how to do it normally... but i guess this "sort artist" thing (as opposed to simply "artist") is a new feature with recent releases of the software. at any rate, the idea is to change the "sort artist" thing to "adams, ryan" while leaving the "artist" field as "ryan adams". in doing this I can find ryan adams songs under "adams, ryan" while itunes still sees it as "ryan adams" for the purposes of getting album artwork, etc. it's changing the "sort artist" field that I can't figure out how to do all at once.

That probably is much more confusing than it needs to be --- but I hope it helps.
