Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will perform at the world premiere of the documentary "Body of War" on Sept. 11 at the Toronto International Film Festival. As previously reported, Vedder contributed two original songs to the film: "No More" and "Long Nights."
"Body of War" chronicles the travails of Tomas Young, who was paralyzed by a bullet during his first week of military service in Iraq. Vedder was inspired to write material for the film, which was co-directed by talk show legend Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, after meeting Young in recent months.
"No More" has been since been played live at a number of Pearl Jam shows, including the band's headlining slot at Lollapalooza with guest Ben Harper earlier this month in Chicago.
After the Sept. 11 premiere, "Body of War" will screen the next four days in separate sessions for the media and general public. Another film with original Vedder songs, "Into the Wild," is also screening at the Toronto fest but it is unknown of the artist will be involved in any related events.

I'm not listening to any more clips before I hear the whole album, whether they're live or studio. Nothing like buying a new Pearl Jam related CD on a brisk autumn day.

the album only contains 2 tracks of Eddie's, + there's no distributor as of yet.

Well, fuck me then.
edit: I'm not downloading these 2 clips until some really stellar versions show up online.

Along with "Into the Wild" and "Body of War"...The new Bob Dylan biopic will be playing at the festival, as will the new Who Documentary "Amazing Journey" which Eddie is interviewed.
Ed may be in Toronto for the whole week !!

I'm sure this was asked elsewhere so sorry to cover it again. When does the soundtrack come out?
There are rumors the Starbucks and iTunes release of Into The Wild will include a disk with these songs, incl live version of No More, but I don't know if that's been confirmed. I hope so.
Eddie is a great man! Someone who makes you want to be a better person.
Nice! Have we heard Long Nights yet???
no but we will. can't wait. i love no more.
really?! love?! its pretty good but only having the low quality live versions of it im having a hard time getting into it...its gotten better w/ each listen but i have no desire right now to listen again until the studio version is released but long nights description makes me really want to hear that...sounds like its going to be a very powerful song lyrically...hopefully the music will complement them...

Yes love.
first, I love the melody in the verse. it's fucking gorgeous to me. second, i love the way it breaks into the bridge. I love the bridge itself, it's powerful and dramatic. yes, i really do love this song.
it doesn't hurt that i got a chance to see an HQ version from hullabaloo before it was taken off the net, but i had already written the above in youtube before I saw that performance. however, that peformance gave me chills. he totally sold the song . what a fucking build it had.

ok, so i have never been a part of potential local sitings as may happen when eddie is Toronto, but i'm gonna try my damndest to get off work and see what i can find. what's the usual procedure? should we start a text msging list for local toronto peeps to keep each other posted. For example, if eddie is playing at some random club (like he did in chicago after lolla), it would be uber cool to be a part of that. anyone know how the film festival works and how to get in on it? What's the best way to approach something like this? i never know how people hear about rumours and such when a musician is in town and potentially playing somewhere. i guess it usually starts with the employees of the club hearing about it etc. anyways. i vote to start a text messaging group or something so we can keep updates going. through PMs of course. hope that made sense.

ROFL
I just fuck with words for effect, that's all. I grew up in NYC. hehehe. But! My gran'ma, May May, was from West Virginia! She was born in the first decade of the last century and used to answer the phone before she got there.
"Hello! Hello!"
We figured she was practicing, seeing as she hadn't grown up with a phone and all. She told us stories about how she road pigs and pee'd in a can. She grew up dirt poor but was beautiful. Yeppers. She was a real character. A true, one of a kind fruitcake.
You are very wise on the age thing. I could be old enough to be yer momma.
My daughter told me I need to start dating. I said, I wanna meet a PJ fan. I figure with a fan base that's 80% male, someone's bound to be in their 40s and divorced. I really don't wanna hafta break a guy into PJ shows, you know? What a drag that would be. Although, if that's all he liked and only listened to grunge, I might have to kill him.
So, maybe we need a dating web site for fans.
Key Question on the site: What other music do you listen to?
