alright, i moved to a new house towards the middle of the summer, and we have a new pimp-ass, 42" hd tv. we never picked up any of the new video game systems, but i think it's about time we do this.
i think the 360 may be the best value, expecially considering how the price just dropped. from some research i've done, it seems to have the most extensive online features and being that it's been out the longest, it has the most games. when it comes to action/adventure/rpg games, i think i pretty much have to go with this or ps3.
ps3 seems to be a bit too expensive for me, and the games are a lot too. are x-box games up to 70 bucks a pop? i read that it didn't get received too well at e3, and it sounds like it's a shadow of what could have been. however, i assume it will continue with a few of my favorite franchises (final fantasy, tekken, metal gear), and i'm not sure if i'm ready to leave them behind.
wii is definitely awesome, but recent nintendo systems have been lacking in the action, rpg and especially fighting (one of my favorite genres) department. it's the cheapest, so it's got that going for it, and i imagine the sports games are a lot of fun with the controller. how much are the games?
so what do we make of this, folks? what would you recommend?

the ps2 could be picked up really cheap, and has TONS of games. But if money is no option, go with the 360

Wii is a gimmick, and unless you are useless at video games, don't get it. 360 probably still has hardware problems, although "apparently" they are getting better. 360 is prob the best pick if it's hardware is settled now. PS2 will be a better system in the future though, I believe. It has alot more potential, but it's wasted right now.

actually, to append my Wii statement, It's probably fantastic if you constantly have people over to your place or are drunk all the time (with people, not alone). If you are alone, the wii is a peice of shit.

Having played both quite a bit, I might go with the PS3. The big titles are going to be incredible and it has a better track record in terms of not screwing up. I'd wait a bit before you buy one, but I think it will end up being the better system in the long run.

This is what I'm believing may happen. My allegiance has been with Sony since PS1, and I haven't been feeling Nintendo since SNES.

As far as the 360's hardware issues go, I've never had any problems with mine.
If I were you, I'd definitely go for the 360. BEsides allegiances to certain Sony-exclusive franchsies like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy, I really can't understand why anyone would even consider a PS3. The 360 is technologically superior, you can do infinitely more with it, the online system is much more in-depth (not to mention, IMO, more realiable) and it's the cheaper system because you don't have to pay an extra couple of hundred bucks for essentially just a Blu-Ray drive.

I don't understand the ins and outs of it, but supposedly it is. I'm not going to argue, because like I said, I don't know enough to compare, but from playing the 360 and the PS3, I;ve found that the 360 runs a lot smoother with much better load times.
In terms of pure graphic differences, the 360 still seems to have a slight edge. Here's the two graphical comparisons that GameSpot did:

they have pretty comparable hardware specs with ps3 probably edging 360 out a little... the reason why 360 looks and runs better now is because developers have had a full year and a half to develop games for the system... look at those launch titles, they're pretty unremarkable

Yeah, the launch titles for both systems looked like PS2 or xbox games. If you've seen the MSG4 video then you know that the PS3 games are going to be amazing.
